Default uTorrent setup help. Where's Scruffy Terror?

Ok, so back in the day Imburne helped me set up to download torrents. He walked me through the process and made it idiot proof. Now I had to reboot windows and lost the settings.

I'm using utorrent and storing everything on my external HD. He had me set it up so that after I downloaded, the ---- would go right to one of two folders, "temp torrent downloads", and "completed torrents". I don't know what the temp one is for, but I know the completed torrents were the ones I could listen to.

He also had me change some upload/download settings and all that, but I don't know what the ---- that is. I've downloaded torrents last night, and couldn't figure out how to open or save them in the fashion I was before.

Computer dorks, mount up!!!

you can make any type of folder to put it in....when you first click to download the torrent it should say where you want to save it as then you click on the folder you just made like stealthmoodPorndownloads then it should send it their..

as far as i remember, utorrent is just a download, install, and go program. unless you are behind some sort of retarded router. then again yours could be a priority router as well and thats why your asking?

The "temp" folder is just for the partial files AS it is downloading. Once d-load completes it is converted to (whatever file type it originally was) and saved in the complete. Utorrent is pretty straight forward, PnP software, unless you are behind a router that needs to be configured for port forwarding/port triggering. Help for that can be found at http://portforward.com/routers.htm

if you did not change the folder already, all files will be downloaded and saved in the "my documents/downloads/" folder.

cllick on the start menu, choose my documents, open the downloads folder, badda bing badda boom, your file should be there.

as for changing the settings, utorrent is an install and go.

however, some settings you may use if your setup is like mine are these....

go to "options", then connections, port for incoming connects is 49954 on mine.

everything else is "stock"

then when your done with that, click ok or save or whatever the ---- the button is.

then click on options, then speed guide.

in option 1, choose the speed of the connection you have, or you can just leave it at "current settings".

on option 2, it should say the current port your in, then click the test is port is forwarded properly, if you get teh ok, then your fine, if you dont, then i dont know what the ---- to do, someone else will know.

option 3, make sure you have the encryption option checked.

then click on "use selected settings"

you should be ready to go now.

Set the temp & finished folders the same, whatever you want.

Options:
Preferances:
Check to start when windows does if you want that feature
Downloads:
Set both to where you want the completed files
BitTorrent: (This is what you likely want)
Set global connections to 450
Maximum connections per torrent to 200

If you like uploading back to torrents, but don't want it to slow you down during peak hours, use the scheduler to limit the up and download speeds. Upload being the critical one

And register at afew of the torrent tracking / search sites. It'll speed up queueing if you login to afew then logout.
