I thought your kid registered awhile ago. I have been told by a few people, its just like any other school, its all of what you make of it. Some kids go there, do nothing but party, ---- off, and just get the certificate not really knowing anaything. -then i have heard that some people go there, really apply themselves, study, and learn everything they can, and do really well.

So its like everything else in life, its all of what you make of it.

I have a friend that went too wyo-tech and he said he didnt like it there, so he dropped it after about 2 months. He said he was studing stuff he all ready knew. It could of just been that for the first month or so you learn basics.

thats how any circurlicum (sp) of any school works. they start everyone from page 1, just like any other school. just because your buddy knew what was going on in the first few months, doesnt mean the rest of the class didnt know it. ;)

IT SUCKS A FAT ONE! I attended UTI for 15 weeks at the avandale, AZ campus and all i could think to myself while in class is this sucks i could be teaching this so i quit. Ask anybody that goes there for their true opinion and its always "i hate this school". It's like going back to highschool again. You need passes to go anywhere have to sign out to go to the bathroom, can't miss more than 12 hours or you have to repeat the class, its a ------- nazi camp...any questions hit me up. I tried to give it a fair chance and it was as bad as it gets.

Re:UTI Schools

Two of my best friends went there. One went fro 2 weeks and one finished. What I hear a lot of people say is I already know the ---- I'm learning or I could learn this on my own. But the question for them is why aren't they making $40 an hour as a master tech at a dealership if they know every thing.

The school starts slow because they have to assume tath people know nothing. There is no requirment for previous car knowledge so at first they have to bring the kid who doesn't know where the drain plug is up to speed.

My friend that finished the school knew how to make dual exhaust out of flex pipe when he started. Now he's an Acura tech, made almost 40K his first year out of the school, has all the ase certs except for one, and is the only person I know that can talk circles around me about how certain things work.

I know some people will say ASE certs are easy to get any on could get them. But most people don't know things like, how to diagnose abs problems, AC problems, stuff like that.

All that being said You don't have to go to a trade school to get a job at a dealer. He has people at his dealership that are being trained on the job. But you usually have to know someone to get that deal.

Also I would rccomend that he definitely do one of the graduate programs that gaurantees him a job once hes done if they have a company that he wants to work for.

Ok I'm done

both my cousin matt and my cousin david went to UTI in Phoenix.

its a good school, just tell him to be careful cause its located in the ghetto.

first night i was there going to a nearby school, i was hearing gunshots, and police sirens, and fighting screams n ---- all night. i was like 18 and from a town of 1000 people, i almost jumped a plane home, but toughed it out. Got jumped a couple times and hit by a car in the process but oh well.

When I started my engineering degree I started by learning math that I already knew. You always start with basics no matter what your going for

I'm thinking I will go to UTI (their new campus in pheonix)
I'll probably go tour it this summer.

Im thinking I could probably learn to be a Porsche tech before I go to a real university.

What do you guys think of that plan?

yeah, although I haven't looked into UTI..majority of my classes I've taken at my comm college. the teachers are really good and the depth and quality really surprised me. the only problem is aside from the other classes as far as dealer related education they only have Suburu training, but none the less, it beats the 22k for Wyotech or Licoln Tech
