I was enrolled at wyotech 5 years ago, I decided not to go and I only lost my $100 administration/registration/whatever fee. I'm at a local tech now, going to run me roughly $12K less including my tools.

Depends. If you are going for the mechanics portion only then save a ---- ton of cash and go to a local college, and get into an appreticship program.

with extra cash from going to a comm college you can get state certified in welding, body work, and become an electrician. all of which will prob make you more money than a mechanic

honestly, if you like cars you prob wont like being a mechanic. you'll get sick of working on cars and never touch your own. though there are execptions to the rules
