I dont think its worth the effort of swapping the entire drivline to either an S (3SGTE) or A (4AGE) series. I dont suspect I'm going to have any issues at all with the transmission. Even if I do I have a parts car with a spare.

What I really want though is a 4spd from a 95 - 99, since they have a super long 4th gear for max mpg (or mph in this case). The 1987 - 1990 trans is pretty short, since the car had like 70hp to start with, so I think its going to run out of gears real fast

what do you plan to do about the very weak trans that these tercels came with (with the stock 3a)....

i personally considered getting one of these and dropping in a gze (easily available to me).... but was advised against as the trans wouldn't hold up even to the power of a gze....
why fix it if its not broken. all transmissions are weak. everyone says that about every trans. drive it till it brakes and explodes to a million peices then drive it some more.

a c50/52/56/60 trans isn't too strong either...... they tend to blow themselves apart on hard launches with ~200whp or less.....
