Just imagine your the dad and some kid walks up saying "I really want to date your daughter". If I was the dad I would be like "nice kid, kind of a dork though. Damn he has a lot to learn" Just my thoughts

I think just by considering asking him it shows your a good guy, probably with good intentions. Don't worry about how others go about initiating a relationship. They aren't you, and you aren't them.

And I think it's nice that SOME guys still have manners left in this world. Asking the father to date her is not required or even necessary, but it still shows that he cares about and repsects the parent's wishes for their daughter.
I haven't read the entire thread dude, but I give you props for even thinking to ask her dad, just to date her. That's cool, in my book.
