update on my project GTI....
well i made a post a while ago on the GTI thought i would give an update.... was starting to look bad there for a bit. car was a shell when i got it...then somehow i figured a way to strip more ---- off of it. i dropped the rear subframe out threw the power steering rack away, removed small spindles (10.1's around here somewhere), cleaned up the subframe, ABA, and some other crap me and Aaron found with the pressure washer. put the subframe back in wtih a manual steering rack, new tie rods, poly rear mount. mounted the steering column, O2A pedal cluster, heater crap, shifter box...carpet.
engine got a new rear main seal then bolted my EIP flywheel/clutch assy to it then threw the tranny on (oh new T/O bearing too). i also filled the other rear motor mount with urathaine goo....a thing we always do to out Honda's to make stock mounts harder for 15bucks ;) anyway then we bolted it in to the car....for the time being.... gonna pull it back out to put a Peliquin LSD in. but with the motor in the car it will make all the fabing stuff we need to do go so much easier... too many words....here are the pics: http://home.comcast.net/~turbohf/gti_1.JPG test fit with my radator support, bumper rebar....all the crap http://home.comcast.net/~turbohf/gti4.JPG ABA/O2A mounted in the car :D http://home.comcast.net/~turbohf/gti3.JPG interior shot.... got some black carpet, non-tilt column (small shaft), shifter box in, pedal cluster.....needs dash.... http://home.comcast.net/~turbohf/gti2.JPG my list :-\ and my T3/T4 for some insperation....and for some thinking of where we want to mount it... http://home.comcast.net/~turbohf/gti6.JPG umm....Polo valve cover..... http://home.comcast.net/~turbohf/gti7.JPG *insert 3 inch exhaust here* http://home.comcast.net/~turbohf/gti5.JPG O2A shifter box mounted well thats about it for now.... |
Re:update on my project GTI....
Wow nice project so far. Though I despise working on VW's after working on my cuz's A3 jetta and putting a new tranny and Nuespeed SC on it. What a waste and those tranny's for the 2L are nasty unless you get the bolt kit from those nasty exploding diff's. Their nice cars but too much for parts and too many problems but that could be said with any unstock car.

what are your interior plans? just a gutted monster, or?? black carpet, most of the sound deading will stay (the nasty ---- that falls off gets thrown away), silver stripe dash door cards rear cards, passenger seat from JY (grey probly, wtf i care? im not sitting in it ;)), ---- rear seats this aint a taxi, a black/grey Corbeau A4 i think for me :), and a custom harness/roll bar built to SCCA specs...thinking 4pt, may go for more...but the real plan is for this to be a street car... everything that is being custom made is being fabed by E-Code Motorsport |
