I've locked myself out of my crx (91 SI) and I know i've heard people say you can unlock them using a licence plate but I can't seem to figure it out.

is it really wise to educate the peoples on this topic? Sucks that you locked you keys in your car, but I'm sure if you do a quick web search, you could easily figure out how to get in.

never heard of a plate but a hanger would work. any hard wire. ---- if your real skinny you could bend back the window reach in and open it up. or break it and call your insurence and say you got broken in to

Sure, it's easy.

Just hold your license plate up against your window and punch it as hard as you can. The window breaks, and you can let yourself in...

do the coat hanger method! instead of trying to unlock the door, it's easier to actually pop the trunk and crawl to the front door. giver it a try.

I've unlocked 88-91 Civic with plastic combs, sticks picked up off the ground, etc.

Pull the piece of outside trim off the door window, and stick about 5" worth of what the ---- ever in just to the right of the door lock cylinder and push the lever arm down. Door pops right open.

FYI, this has about as much to do with stolen cars as immobilizer removal has to do with ITR theft. People who are going to get your car will, and most the stereo thieving kiddies I meet toss bricks, or use center punches when they want to be quiet. If you're remotely worried, the 96+ (maybe even 92+, never tried) door lock cyls DON'T rotate without a key and swap over.

i'd rather pull back the window, they're pretty flexible. its what i did when my alarm decided to stop working (wire was loose) and my locks aren't in place at the moment

you guys dont carry a spare key in your wallet? i mean come on how hard is it to carry another key in your wallet. haha instead of going to all that trouble. whip out the key and pow your in :-*

it's prolly a good thing i have an alarm on my car, because when i locked my keys in my car i just pulled the window down. :-X

seriously why wouldn't you have a spare in your wallet and I've never heard anything about license plate lock picking. If you can do it your the man though. Ive done the ol fishing string with a hook on the end for my 98 ex auto locks of course. I left my wallet in my car that's why I had to do it though. I was pretty drunk at the time.

I know on EG's you can pop the window glass out of the door at the top corner, even with the windows rolled up. My car has been broken into twice in front of my house with this ----. >:(

i locked my keys in my old mazda once. But it was easy to get in cause i had a taped on plexy window. :P

Also locked my keys in my buick once while it was runnig. i was about to break the window, but then i found a drafting t and slid that in between the window and the door and pushed the window button down. ever since then i have carried a spare key

u guys know whats funny, ive never had a problem useing other honda keys to open other hondas lol, my friend locked his keys in his 91 si hatch last weekend, i didnt have my keys, but a guy was walking to his 96 ls and i asked if i could use his key for a second because i have opened hondas with my key before. well i just wigled it up and down and like 1/8" in and out and then fliped it, after like 45 seconds it worked. ive done this a few times, my friend opened my car with his crx key and many other times, so if u have a key to another honda or acura or have a friend that does get them to help you. but it basicly only works with old warn out keys lol, im not saying it works all the time, but most of the time. my friend opened my crx with his nissan 240 key :-\

yup! it works even better with an accord key cause its longer.

wiggle that son bitch up and down and in and out.

you can get that thing open if you try hard enough.

i have an even better solution. i give my spare toa cute girl, then it's not so bad when i lock my keys in.

yeah it works for fords too, my friends parents own like four and like all their keys open her focus and of course other focus keys do too, nice anti theft systems they got out there

Thats cause Focus's only have supposely 6 different keys made but it's the lil chip in the key is what'll stop you from starting it up. Man I wish my theives who broke into my old rex would of knew this instead of ------- up my door handle and ripping the whole handle up and out of the door skin. :-\

I have a key in my wallet since I locked my keys in twice. Trouble is, soemtiems when I drive, I put mywallet on teh dash cuz it starts making my ass numb. then I leave it on the dash :-X Turbo timers make it easier to leave the keys in too.....havent done it from that yet though :)

i neverlock my doors. even in bad areas. just get a hatchet, pain it red a lil, and put it in your front seat.

I'm scared his HF's key will open my HF, too - I'm secretly scared she'll be a dirty old turbo ----- for some other man behind my back :(

here is what you do u take the antana off of the escort next to u or what ever car around has a loose antana u pry your window back just a bit and use the antana aginsed your window roler to role the window down just a little bit u might have to poult a 90' bend in the tip it works every time oh and dont worry about the bend it isnt your antana ;)

WHat he is talking about wiggling the key is jiggling the lock. Locksmiths and crooks sometimes carry what are called jiggler keys bascially its a ring of all kinds of keys that are ground down and basically you jiggle/wiggle the key and get lucky that the pins line up enough for you to turn it. The license plate trick only works on 88-91 civic/crxs from what I was told my buddy worked for hasport and their junkyard they would use cardboard instead of a license plate to open locked cars. stick it in the corner and catch the handle.
