Uhmm guys my compression numbers are sceeery.
 

Ok so on a stock b16a1 i have sitting in my garage on a pallet i tried to do a comp test last night to get a ball park idea of the motors health. i know your supposed to take comp tests after the motor has idled but whatever. to make sure nothings in the air, i used jumper cables to power the starter on the motor and yes i held the tb wide open.

So piston 1 and 4 were good with 210 psi matches. but 2 was waay low at 30 psi, and so was 3 at like 60. we poured a little dribble of oil in both to see if it would help and on number 3 it upped it by 60 psi. Today its at a normal 190....odd. Im doing nothing different.

Heres where it gets freaky....piston 3 is pushing well over 300 psi. Ive tested it 4 times now. What can cause that much insanity jeez. stuck valve? i bought the motor from hmotorsonline a month ago.

Can I even go by a cold engine comp test or is it pointless?

The fact that the engine has been sitting so long, and trying to do a compression test is going to be inaccurate, I really wouldnt worry about it, once you get it installed and fully warmed up try again, I bet they will be fine. The rings probably got washed down with somthing and are not sealing good.

I had a Single CAM ZC, that had 10 psi on all cylinders, it took forever to crank over to get compression, but it finally started, and worked out fine.

Speaking of engine compression.. is it normal for your compression to be above stock PSI? I just tested my compression with the engine warm.. and they came out to 170 180 190 190 with five equal cranks each.. According to Haynes 90-93 Accord repair manual, the normal is 178psi.. and stock from honda is like 180 I think? But being a 91 Accord, I expected my compression to be 140 or so. Would that be a problem to turbo with? stock ratio is supposed to be 8.8:1 also. Thanks.

Ok thanks for the info.

About the accord,that sounds fine to me. Not always gona be dead on and about 10psi deviance is ok. Why did you expext it to be 140, just from useage?

Yes, since it's 12+ years old.. I thought the engine would have deterioated more.. and also read else where that a reading of 150~psi is about normal wear. Thanks guys.
