Re:Twin turbo VW

you would need twelve eyes to watch all those gauges :o

Re:Twin turbo VW

dam that crap has alot of gauges. he shifted 5 times though. i doubt that was the 1/4 mile. then again i've never ran the 1/4mile so, does the 1/4mile take all 5 gears on a honda, let's say a 99'si? i doubt it.

Re:Twin turbo VW

a car would have to be extremly fast to go through all gears. I never been to a track but i think you get up to third gear

Yeah i've seen that vid before, that's a sick ass acceliration... i bet there is a ---- load done to that motor and all

Re:Twin turbo VW

Most people end up in 4th. If you have a trap speed of, say, 110-120 thats 4th in most Hondas (or with my ZC at least).

Re:Twin turbo VW

Yeah, a high 14 sec pass on an crx si tranny would end at the very beginning of 4th, unless you can rev up past 7200, i havent watched the vid yet, but a twin turbo vw, hmmmmm....

He only ran a 12...I think it ain't that good for all the things he has doen to the car.
Maybe he has short gears...
It's the VW from england...I saw another vid of it against a Viper...the vid said it was a twin engined VR6 turbo...2 Vr6 turbo's??

DutchPug 08-31-2004 04:09 AM

Re:Twin turbo VW

Yups vr6 turbo in the front and back. Both are supposed to have 400 hp, so an 800 hp car, all wheel drive running a 12.3.... is not that impressive to me.

I'd rather have this one:

Re:Twin turbo VW

It's kinda weird..with that kinda power he should be well into the 10's even 9's

Semnos 08-31-2004 04:41 AM

Re:Twin turbo VW

that VW is awesome, but pricey though.
that engine should spool those 2 tiny turbo's easliy.
Just read they lowered the compression to 7.8:1 :o
Seems kinda low...I would put it more at 8.5:1...that's why they have to rev it to spool those tiny turbo's.
Those engines are strong though...taking about 400 hp in stock form. ;D

Re:Twin turbo VW

Damn but twelve is kinda low. I was waiting for the thing to take off at the end and have liftoff! I can't even remember what my car sounded like when it was boost but damn that sounded sweet. Do any of your turbos sound like that? Well I just it doesn't help when you have another turbo'd vr6 in your back seat :P

actually yeah, i'm shifting to 5th right when i cross 1/4 and this is with a 100-102 trap speed, so especially if you have a little higher traps, but in your case, you might only be in third with a 75 mph trap :-* ;)

There's no way I would run without a wirewall. Anybody else who scattered a motor knows what the schrapnel under the hood sounds like and there's no way I would want to be near a motor when it goes

i wonder if it gets hot in the cabin of that thing. 3 tachs...i think this guy is a little over the edege with this thing...

Haha, well that was the impression I got when I first drove the 1/4 mile.

Guess my engine was just gay.

Since I dont feel like starting a new topic...Does anybody have information on the 1.8T motors? Forged bottom end? I've looked around the internet and cant find ---- on these motors. Neuspeed makes a chip that raises boost levels to 16 pounds, so im assuming this thing is pretty strong. Anybody have input :-\

what tranny are you running? those are some short gears.... i wouls still be in 3rd in my 7

Re:Twin turbo VW

the vr6 doesnt rev high (compared to your typical honda), also, the gears seem very very short, that explains why he flies through the gears.

and what the fucks up with the gauges, some one sed it has 2 motors so i guess that its double everything.

and its not 3 tachs, its 2 tachs and a speedo.

I quess that makes sense. Well you answer all my question but why is the guarter mile time so high though?

All those gauges are probably adding a lot of weight :-\

no traction? (could explain why the gears go so quick).

goto vwvortex.com... there is more ---- on these motors on the web than there is for b16s, the chip raises to 16 psi on a shitty k03 turbo that's way smaller than a ihi rbh5 from a mazda, and the mazda turbo is tiny at 190 cfm. Don't get a vw, they are unreliable and not honda... thought the vr6s are fun to drive and the w12 in the phaeton is sick...

Semnos 09-02-2004 06:18 AM

Re:Twin turbo VW

Yup VW or unreliable......I've heard from people over here say that euro cars are unreliable...a lot of waterpump problems and oil-pump problems..I wouldn't know.
I know a guy that broke 2 GTi engine the older ones from a Golf 3 in 4 weeks..now he drives like a ----- :P
