I dont know how small IHI or KKK's are

I need some opinions on how to make this idea work

No. You get faster spool with a single.

^^^^ just look at supras for example. to get the most power with faster spool time. most supra owners go single

But a single IHI would dog out probably before 5000 rpm wouldnt it? Would 2 not support a better top end?

What was your car like Whitey? Was it ever running at a descent boost level. id like to run 15-17psi, dont know how to manage that yet either reliably

Two small turbos will spool faster depending on the intended application. Keep in mind you would be dividing the amount of exhaust flow/output by two. If the a/r and frame size are too large for the exhaust output from two cylinders, spool up time would be much slower than a single. Thus running two turbos improperly sized, you would be shooting yourself in the foot.

If one were to divide the ex. flow rate by two at a given r.p.m. (3500 for example), and one were to run run two turbos with a/rs comparable to a larger turbo with a 2:1 scale a/r, the twins would spool faster due to less inertial mass in theory.

It really comes down to turbo sizing and compressor flow rates.

Well Im intersted in making power quick, and trying to hold 15psi to redline

Throw me a turbo that can do that but be spun by only 2 cylinders

I'd say if you're going to try it, go with the KKK's from a turbo diesel. They should have a smaller exhaust wheel to spool up fast, especially since most older diesel engines don't see over 4500rpm or so. I used a KKK from a mercedes turbo-diesel, and with all the timing and cam timing set properly, it started spooling at the 1800rpm mark on my 1.6 liter :S

yes, whitey did the d16a6 tt with direct port nitrous.

Okay ---> http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...4_454083_2.htm

In a twin set-up, if you stage the turbos in paralell, the sum of the two compressor flow rates will be enough to feed the engine and not choke off at higher r.p.m.s

There are many others capable of boosting low and flowing enough to make 15 psi to redline. Go to Garrett's website and check out their small frame turbos. http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...ch_center.html
