tv guru's chime in

boss man has like a 2 or 3 year old hd tv, his kids were ------ around pressing the on/off button a bunch of times really fast and now it doesnt work. sears guy checked it out and said it was a couple things. replaced them, stillno worky.

he gave it to me, figureing if i can find out the problem its a freee tv besides the parts that i need to fix it.you can hear it turn on and all, but nothing comes up on the screen, pitch black. not sure if the projectors are getting power or not. took a multimeter to it just fiddleing around and couldnt find anything. any suggestions of what it might be?

Re: tv guru's chime in

it turns on and off as well. i tried to check the lamps out to see if they were burnt out, but they are like 6' long and too many wires hooked to them so i said no thanks.

you know when you turn on a tv itclicks and you can tell its on if the room is dead silent, even when there is no volume up. same thing here

check the Main fuse. it should be some where close to the main board. ;)

there are 2 of them, checked both, both have continuity between both ends, i think there are 3 fuses total, and they are all fine

Sounds like its the bulb,

I used to ship out TV's, and before we shipped them out we QC'd them, we would warm them up, then turn them off and on about 30 or so times, to see if they would take the abuse. Most of the time they would be ok, but every then and now one of them would just burn out like that, You could hear that it was on, just there was no picture, a 400$ replacement bulb from the manufacturer fixed it in a jiffy.

just pull out the bulb and check it, shake it to make sure its not cracked internally.

what brand is it? I used to deal with RCA Sceniums all the the time. about 3-4 years ago.
