turning 30 soon

ok so i know im getting old. and driving a EG is not the thing that chics want to be riding in when their going on a date (25-30 year olds). what the hell do i get as a daily?
heres the situation:
was a realtor for a few years, market got bad, got out of that ----, sold pharmaceuticals for a bit to offset the income, im done with that ---- now. been unemployed for a few months now. was putting my resume in at alot of companys with no luck. had a friends boss help me with my resume and its pretty good now. so heres the real question, once i get a decent job. what kind of car should i buy to be legit? im thinking of rockin the eg and maybe buying a car or two and fixing them and selling them for profit and then boosting and selling my car. hoping to have around 9k for a car with no payments when all is done. what should it be though? ive seen 99-02 bmw 3 series go for around that but they have almost 100k on them. need grown up advice.

9 grand to spend you want something fast right outta the box.

get a GTO , they are practically giving them away. I have seen a few on ebay for 9-11K with under 40,000 on them. It's no Mazda Speed 6 , but it should do the job with 350hp.

So what you're saying is it's all in your head?

Think about that, review the last six posts by marcj, and get on with your life. Turning 30 ain't ----.

Re: turning 30 soon

Hahaha... I'm on the same boat... but I'm just sick of my Mercedes DD... I want a DD that is fun, manual, and I can still mildly mod while also being mildly baller...

My list is as follows...
_ 00-02 Lexus IS300
_ 02+ Audi A4
_ Volvo S40 [forgot the year span, but it's a few years old]
_ 04+ Acura TL
_ Acura TSX
_ pre-04 BMW 5-series
_ also the 3-series you have mentioned
_ s2000

Of course you can all of the above in auto if you prefer.

However my auto list also includes...
_ 02+ Mercedes E-Class
_ 00+ Mercedes S-Class [if you want the bigger benz]
_ 01+ Cadillac CTS [I know a ------' caddy right?!]
_ pre-03 BMW 7-series
_ 03+ BMW 7-series

I know a few of these fall into the 9k price range, I'm sure not all of them do... but then again prices vary from city to city anyways. I just think either of the listed would be some bitchin' ass cars as long as they have clean ass paint [black preferred] and rolling on some nice rims.

yeah i know... i've benn looking but they are 15k+ around here and you're lucky if you find one for 15...

i'm still looking though... waiting to find one at a ridiculously cheap price as I don't care if it has dings and small dents... otherwise i want an is wagon to do a 5spd swap

oh and i added an s2000 to the list, they can be had for pretty cheap...

Re: turning 30 soon

I like IS300s but they are pretty slow, stock. The neighbor kid had a absolutely MINT white MT IS300 with like 22k miles, it was like new in every sense of the word, i shoulda bought it. I like my TL better but i still really liked that car. It wasnt navi, or fast, but it still was pretty sweet. If i were you Murdoc, id get a 5 series bmw, because then, you wont be like every other douche driving a 3 series that thinks they are sweet, or the S2000. Only problem with my 04 TL is that its front wheel drive. Thats the only thing i dont like about it, thats why i said 5 series bmw... Forget the benzes and caddy unless you can find a CTS-V or E55 amg, anything else really isnt that fun from either company, and those are big bucks usually. I like TSXs but they are too slow and still fwd, and anyone i know thats ever had an Audi had serious problems with it, which is too bad because Audis drive nice, esp A4/A6 and S4 etc...

Tom-Guy 01-26-2009 10:15 PM

Re: turning 30 soon

---- stock, is300 + 60-1 is a fun streetcar.

AgentMurdoc 01-26-2009 10:22 PM

Re: turning 30 soon

yeah I know the IS's are slow as balls... as well as the s2000... I just want one cause I can do mild body mods and probably boost them to have a decent DD... these would be like half-luxury toys for me to have fun in. You should have def picked up that 22k IS, those things last forever... my buddy has one with 150-200K on it... somewhere between. and he beats the ---- out of it.

I feel you on the E55 though, however I'm sure a 12 second Benz isn't too important to Jeff... Actually for my next Benz I want either the G500 or G55... wanted to upgrade to the newer SL600, but I'm sick of mine and the fact that it's only a 2 seater. I want a truck and a 3+ seater, so G-wagon it is. 8) In regard to the CTS, I would only get a CTS-V :y

I like the 5-series, but for the price of a used 5 you could get a 7, so I'd just get a 7 :-\ I concur on the whole douchebagness of the 3-series, but it's still a nice car for the $$$ and it's definitely not on the top of my list.

Despite the TL being FWD, I still love that ------' car... it's G as ----. Unfortunately the Audi's do tend to have problems, but my stubborn ass would still get one. The maintaince scare everyone speaks of never stopped me from getting a V12 benz, hahaha.

s2k is still what I'm aiming to buy this summer although JD is telling me to get a is300...but like you said, they aren't that cheap.

I've seen them in good condition in the area for 8-10k, but I think I'd prefer a 04/05 model.

I hear the "they're girly" and "not practical" ----, but I'm 24 with hopefully no chilluns for a while, and want to enjoy doing what the hell I want while I can. It's also a benefit to only have 2 seats so you are never the driver. Top down at 8000-9000rpm sounds nice as well.

You find lightly wrecked in the front end is300 all day for under $1500, clean titles if you put your ear to the ground. The parts cost you $400-600, you have $1200 in quality paint, round up for little unforseen extras and call it $4K.

Where would you put your ear to find such a deal.

I can't see anyone selling that cheap when people would easily pay more.

You'd be surprised. There was a $1200 one in GA Craigslist for over a month before someone finally bought it. I called once, a friend called once, we sat on our asses and called again and it was still there. When my friend finally decided to move on it, it was gone.

Used Lexus. Povided it's 92+ and it's leather & paint are in great shape. You're golden. Bitches love them. Why I still ride the ES 300 on weekends. Just don't buy an i6 GS. Dear god they're ------- stupid. Get the v8 if you're going GS. Doesn't cost nearly anything and a quarter of the car is upgraded all for identical mileage. IS's suck. Better off buying nearly any used beemer even if you're just trying to cruise around for bootah. Which goes back to "see LS or GS" comment.
