last year i seen an escort at the track, i almost busted up laughing when he pulled up next to a mustang (thinking even if it was a V6 he would get spanked) but he ran a 12.2 .
so of course i had to go see what the ---- he was running, it was a DOHC mazda engine with T3/T4 at 18psi with 550's.

jeffsciv23 - where are you located? i have a good friend how ran at Portland alot and Woodburn a bit and he had a set-up like what you speak of but only ran a 12.6@ 112mph

quadnie - you can call the chinspoiler a bit of rice. i built it cause my side skirts dropped about an inch lower then my front bumper. i hated it so much i built that to level out the look of the front clearance. it is a bit fuctional but i didn't built it to do that. before i had my rear as low as it is my car was a bit raked and tapping the brakes from about 65mph+ made the rear a bit light. so its was just luck that it did anything at all. mainly cause its pretty level. tho i can adjust it if i want.

so why not reinforce the area in the back and construct something with fiberglass in it's place? I know it's going a bit extreme but it might be a solution for you.. I've made fiberglass parts with bracket reinforced wire mesh then laid the resin down. Just a thought

my front bumper is 1 of 29 in the US so i don't really want to mess it up. is that a good reason not too? :P your idea is a good one and i have thought about it. also with this piece of aluminum it doesn't break if the bumper bangs into a curb or grinds a road do to the driveway being to steep.

well now that you put it that way i suppose what you have going on is the best thing for it.. for some reason i thought it was for downforce but protection would be the definate key here.. can't say anything I own is a 1 in (under 100) production.. maybe my robotic like dog?

that purple escort is nice. i would like to see what turbo is on there. he says BPT but that is a loose term. it could be one of two motors.

yeah there is a guy out of flordia that ran into the 11's with a fully built 1.8L. he since ditched teh motor and is building a miata set-up for it and going RWD. its crazy.
