I have a 96 mazda mx6 it's a v-6 and i want to put a turbo on it. Does anyone know what is the max psi i can put on it without wearing out the engine? And is there another car that has matching headers?

They used to sell kits back in the day, I don't think they sold too many :-\, but like they said it's going to require a lot of fabrication and custom work.

No other manifold fits right in, so you can't find them on a Junkyard or anything like it. You would need to make them.

The first gen MX6/Probe did come turbo with their inline 4 cyl. Search on google or yahoo for turbo kits and MX6 and also Probe GT, it might give you more information. If you do get it going, post pictures it would be nice to see something different. If you can't find too much information that should tell you right there you should not do it, someone more than likely has tried without success.

ehhh i have a friend with an mx-6, but the engine bay is a little cramped. Doesn't an earlier gen came from the factory boosted?

if you axed cruise control relocated the battery to the trunk and got rid of the airbox ----, you might be able to put a snail over the tranny. looks do able. i dont think it woul cost you to much cash.

its not to hard to turbocharge the 2.5L V6, got to probetalk.com and do some searching over there. They have more than a handful of boosted V6's over there.

Just do what every other MX-6 guy does, put the ford SHO block in there with the JDM heads and a cam upgrade, usually nets closer to 285 bhp. You should be happy with that.

There really isn't too much out there for your MX-6 and a turbo, sorry man...unless you want to help pioneer a kit?

You're a ------- idiot. A SHO block with JDM heads in an MX-6? WTF do you get this BS? It's true that there is not much aftermarket support for Probes or MX-6s when compared to a Honda. However, there have been companies selling turbocharger kits for the 93-97 Probe GT over the years. They tend to go out of business, so your best bet is to check the ProbeTalk.com forums in the classifieds forum for turbo pipe kits. Then go to www.prdonline.com to order a Megasquirt standalone system to be able to tune it the right way.

Don't even think about trying to put the stock 1st-gen Probe/MX-6 IHI turbocharger on the 2.5 V6 engine. It's undersized even for the 2.2 4-cylinder engine. If anyone wants ideas on how to route the turbo collector pipes I can dig up some pictures. You can also find some pictures yourself if you do the research. http://forums.probetalk.com , www.cardomain.com - search by the years 1993-1997 and filter by performance upgrades, www.mx6.com

Obviously this is my first post since you fuckers brought me out of lurker mode, so here are a couple of links to porn.

rawr, local CSS guy did a V6 probe with a snail, got near 400 hp, was on probetalk..........

something happened, wreck maybe, bought a NICE MR2 that was gonna upgrade, it burnt to the ground on I75 in 'nati...........

The MX6 bay is tighter, but it can be done...........

The weak link will be the tranny though..........weaker than a SOHC Honda!

Oops, made little mistake. I meant the 3.0 Vulcan with the KLZE (which is a jdm motor right?) heads on it. It's my ---- up but whatever I don't know too much about these cars. But you can also drop the sho motor in there as well.

Here is a turbo SHO engine in a probe.
http://www.harborside.com/~lhumbert/probepg.html

on performanceprobe there is a SHO swapped probe and supercharged 3.0 vulcan in a probe

there are some turbo KLZE's out there but they seem as rare as SHO and Vulcan swaps...

here is a complete install with a kit, I guess you could copy
http://www.mx6.com/forums/showthread...4&page=1&pp=15

well good luck on this one.

The 3.0 Vulcan is the only Ford-designed engine to ever come in a Probe. It was stock in the 90-92 LX. It has nothing in common with the 2.5 V6, not the US-spec KL-DE, nor the J-spec KL-ZE. The twin turbocharged SHO Probe is the only one of its kind. The guy works for JGS Tools doing metal fabrication, so he's far from a newbie.

Turbocharging the 2.5 V6 is one of the latest trends amongst the Probe/MX-6 community. A lot of people have opted to make their own kits, because they're cheap biotches just like HMT people.
