turbocharging a Jeep 2cyl
Ok so I know it's been done. But was wondering if anyone has a write up or can give me some info on it. Like what waste gate, turbo to use, any junkyard turbos I can use, computer stuff, etc. Thanks

Jeep 2 cylinder? Is that a typo? Exactly what Jeep do we have here?
|
Wow lol, yes a typo. I was thinking too much. It's a 2.5l 1995 jeep.

I'd probably go with a readily available turbo with built in wastegate off something similarly sized - probably a Mitsubishi 4G63 out of an Eclipse. Tuning it may be a bit of a challenge; if I were doing it myself, I'd probably use a MegaSquirt standalone ECU and aftermarket crank trigger. If you're trying to do this super cheap, an OK "band-aid" option would be a rising rate FPR and a timing retard device like an MSD Boost Timing Master.
Note that Chrysler's 2.5 Turbo from the '80s is not related to the Jeep / AMC 2.5. |

The MegaSquirt directions are all online, so you can go over them and get questions resolved before you decide if you want one:
http://www.msextra.com/doc/index.html We can build them with custom mods if needed, or if you're feeling up to building one from a kit, you can. The MegaSquirt would determine engine position from a sensor reading a crank mounted multitoothed wheel. See these articles for examples of setting them up. http://www.diyautotune.com/tech_arti...eels_index.htm http://www.diyautotune.com/diysotm/diysotm_2010-01.html |

Yes, I work for DIYAutoTune.com. So I can set up an order but I'm not the one who assembles it. Tuning needs are similar for supercharged and turbo engines, other than that a blower uses purely mechanical boost control.
