turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
For those of you who were talking about turbocharging a go kart here ya go ;D in case your wondering this is a turbocharged bike motor in a GO-KART that looks like it weight 300 or 400 lbs. Its suppose to go 0-60 in like 3 secs and puts like 3 or 4 g's on your body or something like that.

Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
Ok,ok... I take back all of the laughing at anyone on here who wanted to turbo their scooter... or moped. whatever. Damn I wish I knew what those little motors sounded like!!! haha. ;D

Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
that intercooler looks homo mounted like that :-\
|
Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
haha nice ic mounting job... i bet it just sounds like a crotch rocket with a pipe like that on it.
|
Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
I need those trick samco coolant hose kits.. PIMP
|
Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
at first I was thinking.. "WTF, where's the damn turbo" Then I saw it. Holy ---- that thing is small!
|
Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
ya it is a small turbo but my god you don't need a huge turbo for that kinda of engine.
|
Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
I get a bad feeling from that setup...and is that a DRAW THROUGH carb setup??? WTF??? fuel will puddle up inside the cooler, pipes. and drain back into the turbo after it's shut off. I don't like it!
|
Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
the radiator and the ic are mounted in really stupid spots!! :)
|
Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
ya i do have to agree with that ic and radiator. You would figure they spend all this money as well as suppose to be future engineers they would of found a better place to put them exspecially the ic. oh well thats people for ya

Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
Um yah, that its probably a formula sae car and the the engine is probably a 600cc motorcycle engine. Not very small really. The funky configuration is beacues you have to have a 20mm restrictor before the turbo.
|
Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
i like it, its probably fast as ----
|
Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
Ya our Formula SAE team, which i am technically [art of but have been a bit busy to help out much, used to turbo the honda 600cc engines. N/A the car is really fast now 0-60 coming in around 4sec.
http://www.me.gatech.edu/gtmotorsports/loader.html Oh and as you can guess i go to Gerogia Tech |
Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
i want one ;D
|
Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART

http://www.me.gatech.edu/gtmotorsports/loader.html Oh and as you can guess i go to Gerogia Tech i've only driven the 98 car and the 01 car, and the 98 car was converted back to carbs (no bullshit restrictor). that was the most violent acceleration i've ever experienced in my life. from 9000-12,000 rpm i couldn't see it was pulling so hard. i think that car's 0-60 was a tick under 3 seconds. speaking of SAE, the competition is this weekend in detroit. i know we've got a kickass car this year, but so do about 50 other schools. good luck to all you guys involved with you school's teams.. |
Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
now i really want one take that bitch on the road and you would own everyone and everything but if someon hit you ,you be in some major pain if not dead oh well. I still would do it ;D

Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
man, that scooter thing looks like a darwin award just WAITING to happen....
i think it'd be fun to take a shifter kart out to university and race a few 'maros. nothin warms my heart like making a mullet cry.... |
Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
ok now I want to take a welding class and make a go kart and turbo it. I swear some point in my life I will make one. that would be soo fun just to say that I have a turbo go kart. with a giant fmic too. I know that they are trying to make a turbo for a gas rc car. but a go kart would be sooooo cool especially a shifter kart. you know? because you would hear the blow off... mmmmmm I am going to look around I know theres one out there.

Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
Does anyone know where you can find those midget turbos??
|
Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
NEWS FLASH: TURBOS DO NOT WORK ON 2 STROKES....
|
Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
derrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ::)
|
Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
i only said that because someone was talking about turboing an RC car...I've never seen a 4 stroke RC car.....yet
|
Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
nope, i've got an rc car and that mother fucker don't need a turbo!
|
Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
thats the truth..I used to have an AWD HPI mini civic...fast as hell, gas of course, but it was more fun to build than to drive.
|
Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
yeah, i've got a traxxas 4-tec with an integra type r body and replica type r rims. it looks phat as hell, but they lose their fun level after a while.
|
Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
that's when you put the 2 speed tranny in it. i have a nitro RS4 with a ferrari 360 body on it. thing hauls ass. like was said before, they don't need a turbo =)
|
Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
I would like to say my rc engine is 4 stroke but not sure although it does spin 36 grand. As for small turbos get one off of an old chrysler New yorker or what ever those things are like micro. The compressor side looks like 1.5 inches thick and the thing is no more than maybe 5-6 inches in diameter.

Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
as far as turbocharging a bike engine, the one we used on the 250 was the IHI RBH31 from the chevy sprint. it' s made for a 1.0L, but since our redline was 19,000 instead of 5000, we figured the airflow would be about the same. didn't spool till like 8000 rpm, but screamed like a banshee after that..
that's a project i wanna do someday. not necessarily a gokart, but something like a triumph spitfire with a turbo yamaha R1 engine and gearbox in it. i'd think that megasquirt could handle the fuel injection... |
Re:turbocharged bike powered GO-KART
it has a 2 speed tranny in it, how does that make it funner, you get to hear it change gears ::)
