Turbo Tacoma
looking for any common/suggestion on boosting a 03 tacoma 2.4. Looking for some low-mid range tork on a work truck.
I`ve been looking around online but i guess most of the peeps go S/C instead. And they are talking about how it does not need any fuel/timing management under 7psi?? I know the same goes on the older KA24s. what about the mass air flow snesor. BTW i came across this forum and found something very interesting, look the the last post LOL http://www.customtacos.com/ubbthread...=&fpart=2&vc=1 |
Re: Turbo Tacoma
there was a guy here locally that had a turbo'd tacoma. i didn't kno much of his setup besides a custom log manifold. i dont think he was boosting much but if ur goin low boost on it donald, jus use stock maf as pull through pre turbo stock injectors with an fmu =x... look at johnny n it runs fine at 5psi. keep it low n simple n you'll obtain ur low/midrange power/torque for ur truck lol

Re: Turbo Tacoma
yeah, they call them tacos...
the 3rz (2.7 L 4cyl) is a pretty solid foundation for boost. It is what Rado's Bob Norwood built Scion is powered by. It's punched out to 3.0 but it's supposed to be putting down like 1300 whp with a stock block. I have been toying (no pun intended) with the idea of a slammed 4wd 2.7l turbo'd drag truck. Kinda redneck, but it would be a cool project in my opinion. anybody wanna donate the parts so i can put together the kit for like say 50 bucks :P |

Re: Turbo Tacoma
Here on Kauai, we have a turboed stock block 4cyl 2wd tacoma. He's running 16 pounds with water/methanol injection and a zex 100 shot. He runs a 12.8 1/4 mile.

Re: Turbo Tacoma
I've actually ridden in a turbo Tacoma... thing was badass!!!
It was a remote mount turbo and at only 7psi it was a monster. I don't know if you want to do a remote mount setup though, seems lots of people are opposed to them. |
Re: Turbo Tacoma
so soundsl ike the internal is pretty strong even if it is not a 2.7 huh. ?
what about fuel management. i was thinking of a FMU but does it even need one? what about fuel pump if i am going to use a FMU. |
