turbo & supercharger = power
a friend of my son is putting this together, its on a 91
crx-si, a6 block, aries pistons, eagle rods block has been sleeved & decked, d15 v-tec head stage2 p&p crower valve train not sure what cam, crank has been microed,t3 turbo mounted in back of car (no intercooler up front)all custom piping and this weekend adding a jackson sc he just purchased to go with a custom ecu being done by Motec. this kid has been through at least 6 engines in the last year mixing and matching to get the best results he can. last July he ran mid 12s with turbo up frount with IC. |
Re:turbo & supercharger = power
Why move the turbo to the rear?
Def. sounds like an interesting project though. Some picts are nessesary. |
Re:turbo & supercharger = power
by putting the turbo in the rear u can eliminate the IC
and pose as a sleeper i guess this has been done before |

Re:turbo & supercharger = power
this is going to be a very interesting project 8)
|
Re:turbo & supercharger = power
ya, thats why he is adding a SC to pick up some of the lag
|
Re:turbo & supercharger = power
did he post this on the endyne messege boards? theres a project similar to this on that board.
http://www.theoldone.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=17257 I think though that you have to register to see this :-\ |
Re:turbo & supercharger = power
im not sure if he did or not,as far as i know he
doesnt do the board scene, just a very smart kid |

Sounds interesting.. lets see some pics :P

Re:turbo & supercharger = power
Can the JRSC unit disengage the pulley? I know on the Toyota SC12, you can turn it off via a clutch assy. Since the JRSC is integral to the intake manifold, you can't exactly bypass it either. (Or can you?) If you can't turn it off, and you can't go around it, what happens when the compressed air hits the SC?
|
Re:turbo & supercharger = power
i agree... would definatly like to see this!

nothing happens when it hits the s/c it just goes throught it really really fast, faster than the s/c can pull it through with the blades inside. old semi's used to be twin charged too... i saw it on trucks... a huge turbo sat with the compressor pointing straight into a huge roots blower http://www.hilmersson-racing.com/bil...Faktabild1.jpg http://www.hilmersson-racing.com/bil...Byggbild20.jpg http://www.hilmersson-racing.com/bil...Faktabild2.jpg http://www.hilmersson-racing.com/bil...Faktabild3.jpg http://www.hilmersson-racing.com/bil...Faktabild4.jpg http://www.hilmersson-racing.com/bil...Faktabild5.jpg http://www.hilmersson-racing.com/bil...Faktabild6.jpg http://www.hilmersson-racing.com/bil...Faktabild7.jpg |
Re:turbo & supercharger = power
much too cool. So um. While we're on the subject, since one would probably be running more boost out of the turbo than the SC would normally produce, how would the seals on the SC be affected?

Re:turbo & supercharger = power
WOW that is amazing!!! :o
|
Re:turbo & supercharger = power
holy ----, that thing is bad ass!
|
Re:turbo & supercharger = power
it bypasses the blower with the charge from the turbine... but its still twin charged :p
|
Re:turbo & supercharger = power
kinda dumb if you ask me... Pay twice the parasitic fee for the same boost...
A larger single turbo would walk all over a s/c+turbo set-up. That vovlo engine looks bad ass though ~~!! |
Re:turbo & supercharger = power
yea, but the zero lag would own you :P
|
Re:turbo & supercharger = power
Funny, HKS used to make a twincharge kit for my motor (Toyota 4AGZE). I think it sold for something like $5000. They're VERY rare.
Unfortunately, the SC12 ain't the greatest. What with it's SEAL-LESS design >:( -Tim |
Re:turbo & supercharger = power
hks and meguiars did that twin-charged type-r a long time ago.
it made over 400 hp on a stock b18c5 motor. i think the only change was that the pistons were coated with something. http://www.superstreetonline.com/fea...618/index.html |
Re:turbo & supercharger = power
I don't like it, i've heard of this set-up before and honestly, i'm not impressed with the results. Is removing the lag worth the hastle and parasitic drag of the supercharger in high RPMs?
|
Re:turbo & supercharger = power
Some Volvo Penta marine engines come twincharged from the factory, and the supercharger has an electromagnetic clutch. When you push up the accelerator it clutches the supercharger in for a couple of seconds and then releases it and lets the turbo make all the power ;D
|
Re:turbo & supercharger = power
all newer benz have that too ( s/C clutch thingy ), but that doesn't by pass the rotors of the blower... The turbo still has to push air past the S/C.
|
Re:turbo & supercharger = power
if you did a vortex charger that you could make a y pipe for you can get the same boost from it! if you use the jrsc its in the intake manifold and can not be shut off! if will slow down the charged air like kink bends... and you guys know how bad kink bends can be!
