TURBO AND NOS??
anyone got NOS and turbo on their honda? is it much benefit having both? or do you have a progressive NOS kit that turns off when the turbo kicks in?
Just looking for a bit of advice on this. |
Re:TURBO AND NOS??
i have been told you shouldnt spray at less than 3000rpms. and the turbo probly wont kink in till 3K anyway...
|
Re:TURBO AND NOS??
is it best then to prehaps have the NOS kick in about 1 or 2 k after the turbo or maybe same time! i'll only be doing a 25 or 30 shot of NOS
|
Re:TURBO AND NOS??
read some of your other post (dude you need to chill!) and just a warning D16 rods will break at about 200-220hp...
|
Re:TURBO AND NOS??
instead of doing turbo and nos, just run a little more boost
|
Re:TURBO AND NOS??
you could use the nos to cool your charge pipes... :P
|
Re:TURBO AND NOS??
nos basically increases the mass of the fuel/air charge in the chamber.. "just like a turbo" so essentially it would be just like cranking up the boost.. you might develop a need to get even more fuel in there while nos is ingaged.. in other words your current fuel enrichenment system may not do its job and you could detonate.. It sounds real tricky to me! :o

Re:TURBO AND NOS??
he wants nos just to help spool a big turbine. so nos + boost probably wouldn't ever happen or only for a very short time. but still that is rediculas to need nos and a turbo on a non dragster. just spool the turbo before you launch
|
Re:TURBO AND NOS??
Use a 50 shot of N2o, NOT NOS! NOS sucks ass. Use NX N-ter-cooler. this helps with turbo lag and is mounted on the intercooler. Make sure you build up the inside of your motor.
|
Re:TURBO AND NOS??
you cant really spool a turbo before the launch unless its an automatic cause theres no load on the motor...correct me if im wrong
|
Re:TURBO AND NOS??
if you are running turbo, you are running it for a reason, and should have known when you decided to go turbo that there was some lag to it. sometimes a benifit, sometimes a hinder. but if you want low rev boost, sell the turbo and get a supercharger.
and if you just want more peak power, just turn up the boost. the way i see it, an average sized turbocharger can easily provide more power than your engine can handle. so what is the point in using more than one form of hp booster. |
Re:TURBO AND NOS??
Turboboy I believe you are correct.. and as far as running nos with turbo... it will spool quicker with a small like 25 shot or so.. but like someone said.. u cant spray until 3000 rpms and u will already be spooled up by then... not worth it to me.. espeically on d series motors.. i might consider it on a full drap app.. otherwise i would just up the boost
|
Re:TURBO AND NOS??
well if you have the engine revved, it will be spinning the turbo. maybe not making boost, but it will be spinning it. so when the wastegate closes the turbine will already be spinning faster than if you were at idle.
|
Re:TURBO AND NOS??
the wastegate is closed at idle
|
Re:TURBO AND NOS??
whatever its closed at idle, but the point is if you're revving the engine the turbine is already spinning. even if its not making boost
|
Re:TURBO AND NOS??
indeed, the turbo is slightly spooling when launching but not making boost since their is no load on the engine. I launch at 5-7000rpms with a rev cut limiter.
Stall convertors would be really nice for spooling a turbo on the line. Jeff |
Re:TURBO AND NOS??
I sprayed my civic at 1500RPMs for 9 bottles... But I don't see why it is needed with a turbo.. Pretty much ANY turbo is capable of making more Wheel horse power than a D-series block can handle.. IE: the tiny DSM T-25 can make 275ish WHP, and the honda rods break around 200-220hp.. And the T-25 has good spool-up too..
If the turbos weren't making enough air, then I'd say go fill the bottle, but I can't think of any turbos that couldn't max the D-series rods out.. 200hp with 14psi is the same as 200hp with 7psi with a 70shot as far as your block is concerned... So turn the boost up, just make sure your engine is ready for it.. |
Re:TURBO AND NOS??
how about turbo and 80 shot of nos on a b16a? will it work or just boost up the turbo?
|
Re:TURBO AND NOS??
Here's how its gonna go..
HiKneeKen: Wow this turbo and NOS are gonna kick ass Random friend: Yeah dude... Later that week... Redneck Mechanic(AKA Jeff): Well son ya tow-up your ringlands. HiKneeKen:Aww Shucks.. In other words you probly wont want to do this. |
Re:TURBO AND NOS??
Awww, shucks!!! Bwahahaha..
Anyways, about that boost spool up thing. You can spool it up with a manual by using the e brake and releasing the clutch to put a load on the motor until you launch. This will spool your turbo and create boost. Keep the rpms above say 3000 while releasing the clutch slowly until you are reading boost. Then when you are ready to launch, just drop the clutch and release the e brake. ;D __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |

I..I...I... I dont know.. that sounds awful complicated! LOL
|
Re:TURBO AND NOS??
i have no need for spooling u the turbo at the line...i cant get traction as it is...if i bring it up to 3k and launh they just spin....time for slicks
