turbo install pt. 2

well, it seems nothing wants to work out right for me, my main problem at first was that my wife didn't know about the turbo, well, i decided to just tell her, i mean ---- i just bought a house and she always told me "when we buy a house, i don't care what you spend your money on", so she was actually cool with it, so at least now i don't have to lie to her to work on my car and this should make things easier for the install. well, my bezel that i ordered for my gauges still hasn't come, so i was going to install them without it for now, then when i sized up my turbo on the manifold and held it in the engine bay, there is no way i'm going to be able to use the internal wastegate, so i had to order an external wastegate and a block off downpipe flange today, so i doubt they'll be here by the weekend :P so that's another week on hold. i did get around to installing my fmu (i'm converting to obd1 and chippin my ecu, but i have to wait until i can go see j.davis for him to tune it), and ran the vacuum line for my boost gauge through the fire wall. my bezel should be here today and i'll install my gauges. this weekend, if my wastegate isn't here yet, i'll get all my charge pipes ran and bov mounted, then when the wastegate gets here, i can just bolt the turbo up and go. anyways it looks like i'm not going to have an 'install' but more like a bunch of drawn out mini installs. here's pics of the gay ass fmu install, i'll keep you updated for part 3 ::)

i think i get shakey when i'm around turbo parts, my camera is the ----, but it seems like the recent pictures i'v been taking have been a little blurry ???

this is where i decided to bolt up the fmu, it worked out good cause i didn't want to drill into the fire wall for some thing that's not going to be permanent, and it's close to the fpr.......
http://www.newbieforces.com/files/ti1.jpg

as you can see, it looks very stock where it's at, i was very pleased, i bought some high pressure efi hose and some fuel hose clamps for everything, and just tee'd in to the existing fpr vacuum hose.
http://www.newbieforces.com/files/ti2.jpg

here's a couple shots of my snail and stealth mani. it's a good thing i got it flanged for an external wastegate, i was just going to block it off incase i wanted one some day, but as it turns out, i have to use it, or ditch the a/c which i don't see happening.

here is a pic of the canister i broke while running my boost gauge line, i broke one of these fuckers on my integrea too, they should make those nipples metal :P it looked like it was only acting as an elbow from a vacuum line on the back of the i.m. to the cruise control, so i completely removed the broke piece of ---- and just ran a straight vacuum line from the c.c. to the i.m., seems to work fine. can any one find the vacuum line going in to the fire wall in the last picture??

i already have the obd2 to 1 conversion harness, and j.davis has a chipped ecu for me, i just have to drive 4 hours to see him, so the fmu is more or less to get me around for about a week then get me up to his place, as far as the a/c, i would rather keep my a/c than have to cut my hair like yours just to keep cool, it get's pretty hot down here and i don't like for my balls to be sweating when i'm driving. as far as pics of my car, look in the "what does your car look like" thread.

haha, my hair is beautiful. In a race car like mine you don't need an ac, or a heater, or windshield wipers, or a stereo.

nice stuff..big ass turbo...whats the spec's on that thing...and the way i see it with a/c. all motor car is slow not too much air pushing into the car...while turbo..car is faster and air is moving faster to cool me down..thats why car's have windows.. :P

the turbo is a 50 trim .48/.50 t3/t4. as far as a/c, i have to keep it, this is my daily driver, and i have a young daughter and i'm not going to be driving around in the blistering sun with no a/c, it's a 00 si, it's not like it's a 91 crx or something, if it wasn't so nice, i would rip out the a/c and power steering. ----, the engine bay in my 93 teg was bare, but this is a little different than that. besides, after the turbo is up and running good, a built block is next and should be finished by x-mas, so i'll be making more than enough power to make up for the a/c ;)

When you are stuck in traffic in 100+ degree weather, you will kill for A/C, I you can keep it, do it. Now if would be just your race car, take that ---- out, which in your case it is not.

By the way, it's looking good, should be ready by June 19th, you still have 82 days and 12 hours to finish it. ;)

Yes, I actually counted the days left, I'm that busy at work :-[ :-\ :o

It's sure nice to be able to work overtime, while doing, well pretty much nothing, In my job I am salaried, or pretty much screwed, I make the same no matter how long I work :'( :'( :'(

But looking at the bright side, I only draw about 4 hrs a day and get paid for 8 :) :)

I wish I could do overtime.

what kind of wheels are u gonna get? i never had a/c in my crx or my 92 hatch. well i had it and it didnt work to well just blowing hot air. and now my coupe has a/c. its nice to have. but i dont really use it since im use the the fucken heat. but my gf says let me use it your gonna take it out anyways. and my car doesnt go anywhere with a/c on. and i have an hf mani so i wouldnt be able to keep it anyways. but im keeping power steering. could live without it but its there might as well put it to good use. and plus im moving to minnesota in july. and my bro say's it doesnt really got hot. he said its getting hot. i said how hot. he said 42 degrees. i said ---- no thats fucken cold. but yeah. when do u think your gonna finish your shiet??

we're technically salary also, but we do government contracts and there were a lot of billable hours left on the contract that ends in may, so they allowed us to work "e.t." (they call it "extra time" because we're not getting paid time and a half like you would for "o.t."), so that we could burn up the hours, the government is very ---- about how their contract money/hours go down, they would rather spend the money to pay you and have 0 hours left on the contract than getting the money back, i guess it's more work for them to figure stuff out when there is money/hours left over. oh well, i just hijacked my own thread :o

crx2fast: it's a jackson racing adjustable fmu

the actuator stuck out far on the front of the turbo and wouldn't clear my a/c stuff. there's not too much room in between the block and radiator support. i could have put two big ass turbo's in my teg :P

Is that a down2turbo turbo? Looks nice. :)

I was expecting some pictures of a turbo actually installed on a car, but all I got were some shots of an FMU and a thingy-ma-bobber. :P

na, not a down to turbo. yeah, i installed my gauges last night too, if you read ;) you would have seen that i don't have time to do the whole install, so i'm doing what i can when i can. it should all be on by this weekend though, i'll just save all my pics for when i'm completely done ;)
