turbo civic runs like shit no drivabilaty please help me! (fixed)thanks
hi i have a 1996 civic hx..
it was running all perfect and everyting.. i swaped in my build vitara and eagle rod sohc d16y7 bottom block and hx head and put a ex cam and rocker arms in the hx head so its basically the same ex head.. then i wen to rewire it for obd 1 and i did and put in a obd1 ecu and it ran like ---- stock ecu stock injectors no managment mods yet just obd1 conversion.. so since it ran like ---- i disconected the obd1 wire and put it back to stock obd2 and tried already 2 good obd2 ecu and still runs like ---- has good bottom end power below 1700 rpm and above taht dosent have ----! i ordered a obd2a to 1 jumper harness now waiting for it to come.. the car has the turbo kit on it and everyting.. i took the bov off so the motor wont get any boost because its all stock the injectors ecu all that ----.. the only CEL im getting is for codes 14 iacv ,65 some transmission controls bs ( this is an x auto car..) 70 secondary o2 sensor that i dont have cuz of the turbo.. and i had those codes before the swap and the car ran perfect drove it for months like that after i convereted it to mt.. the motor has exelent compression in all cylinder and ran perfect in the ---- hatch before i pulled it out to put in this car.. any tips will greatly help tahnks guys! |

How does it idle, how is throttle response. Have you double checked your timing?

it idle is not bad but it changes from bad to really bad when i put the gsr ecu in but with the auto hx one its fine idels good and my cam timming is perfect and timming on the dizzy is set to and checked it with a timing light and that good.. the throttle response is gay its slow it feels liek the motor is not getting enough fuel.. or somthing..

ya im trying to get it to run before i get more poroblems i dint put any of my ---- in yet 450cc 2.5bar mazda 626 big ass fuel pump crx risistor box and ----.. dude i need to get it running stock cuz it dosent how will it work wiht the turbo if it cant run stock!

its probably your wiring. wait till you get the conversion harness and then post up your problems. and try to clear as many of the coes as you can.

fix your wiring, fix your codes, get a chipped ecu since you no longer have a stock engine. Dont run without the bov since it will hurt your turbo (it will keep trying to pressurize the pipe).

What? Are YOU the one smoking crack? When you have a turbo pushing a ton of pressure at 500+ CFM and all of a sudden you close the throttle plate, guess what happens. The turbo wheel goes from turning 80,000 RPM to 0 RPM and then backwards in a fraction of a second. What results is little pieces of wheel flying everywhere, if you catch my drift. The wheels aren't designed to withstand that kind of impulse. This is where the bov comes in. As soon as vacuum is applied the bov opens the charge pipe, letting the pressurized air vent instead of running back through the turbo.

i fixed it turns out the notch in the z6 cam that drives the dizzy was at a different angel so the timming was way off so i filed out the bolt holes and got it set.. last time i check timming with a light it threw me off cuz the idel was way too high and all screwy.. so now im just waitn for my converter harness still didnt come.. :'(
and i got bigger injectors (dsm 450's) and 2.5bar Motorola no point of puting them in if i cant have my p28 in there ostrich/laptop /lc-1 |

Okay, no bov with an open pipe is just as bad. You're spinning the turbo up and the wastegate is never seeing boost because there's a big ------- hole in the pipe. Now you have a turbo that keeps spooling and spooling and there's no pressure, so it blows up. Either way you get a bomb.

Um.. what? You need to go back to first grade to learn how to write in an intelligible way. Your exhaust is still pumping out air whether the turbo is hooked up or not, correct? Well the turbo spins with nothing to control this spinning (since there's no pressure to tell the wg to open). So potentially the turbo could spin up to 2x what it was designed to, because there's no way of controlling the exhaust flow. The wg never sees the boost because there's no pressure being built. The cycle is not broken as you put it. The only thing broken about it is there's no pressure in the pipes so therefore the amount of exhaust gases is less, but there is still plenty to spin the turbo uncontrollably, which will happen because the wg will never see boost.
