Turbo for a 04 Civic
I have an 04 Honda Civic Sedan and want to put a Turbo on it does anyone have suggestions as to the best fit for my 17D SOHC I've been told by a friend that a Turbo from a Ford Probe will work and what work will be needed to do?

Re: Turbo for a 04 Civic
Read, read, read. When you're asking questions as basic as this you're still a long time away from turbocharging anything yourself with success...
D17A1 I'm going to assume? Good luck getting cheap engine management btw... |

Megasquirt is cheap, Danno.

Re: Turbo for a 04 Civic
True, but how many people do you know what actually want to use that instead of OMG Hondata BS that are in the automotive world? The HMT mindset is few and far between I think...

Hondata has fans because a retard can use it yes its that easy. I like it and also like turboedit. What does this boildown too use what is practical. I really want to try out neptune |
Re: Turbo for a 04 Civic
aem also has a unit coming our thats going to be farely cheap catering towards obd2 cars with direct controll of the injectors built in map sensor etc. Look to be a pretty good option for most cars that dont have alot of support.

Re: Turbo for a 04 Civic
my bad :-[ Either the way its being talked about it will work for most any newer car out s2k tc etc so I'm sure it could be used with the civic but the prices are higher than they initially said they would be.

It's looking like the new AEM Fic is going to be the way to go without breaking the bank. It "sounds" like they have the kinks worked out and it shoudl work pretty well. I'm even getting tempted to get one and boost my 01. The box runs about $400, and if you want a plug and play harness add another $200.

Re: Turbo for a 04 Civic
Check the 7th gen section of civicforums, there is a few d17's running the Aem Fic. Seems to be working pretty good.
Might as well ----- some d17 pictures while I am here :) Manifold I am working on for a d17 with a gt30r. Stock fans, A/c and PS, just need to shoe horn the wastegate somewhere and make the downpipe. http://www.eville140.com/Michalo187/d1731.jpg |
