Talk to tuner toys, he'd going to be testing out some Vitara pistons, as am I, except I wont have any info oh how they perform till the spring time.

You can get them from a guy on Honda Tech, I think his name is FJT or FTJ, or something like that. thats where mine are coming from.

From the brief conversations craig and I have had about the vitara pistons I doubt he's going to be dealing w/ those at all. I don't think any of you guys should either.

those pistons are going to sit 2mm in the hole in a D16. that is scary. low compression so you can boost a bunch, but all the combustion is happening in the hole rather then in the CC. That is just begging for blown headgaskets, and busted sleeves. I wouldn't deal with them. I'd rather have stock pistons then those.

I dont know how they would work in an A6 but in the Z6, i heard that they will be fine, I'll check in to it, good point.

Stock A6/Z6 pistons wont handle more than 10-12 psi, and thats with superb tuning, if you plan to run more, then you need forged, most guys cant afford to dish out $300 on pistons, so they go with vitaras.

There has to be something you can do about this issue, isnt there?

dude, are you listening? you head they will wrk fine in a z6 right? great, who are these reputable sources telling you to put a piston with a compression height of 28 in a bottom end who's stock pistons are 30mm and maintain stock rod length. there is nothing about these pistons mettalurgically different that would make them work any better then a stock piston, they just don't make as much compression, so you can boost more. driveability on such low compression out of boost will suck ***, and don't come crying when you pop a headgasket or crack sleeves. I'll just say I told you so. These things are %100 hype. Go ahead and use them if you want, the extra couple hundred bucks for a set of GOOD pistons is well worth it. I mean, even with the vitara pistons, you'll be shelling out (you should be shelling out) close to $1000 into this bottom end, put a couple more bucks in it and do it right.

I get what youre saying, relax, you are right. I was speaking for everyone else that uses them, anyway, you honestly think they are the same as a stock Z6 piston? if so I would use the pistons I already have instead, i'm topping out at 16 psi pump gas, tuning using uberdata, so I should be fine with stock Z6 pistons?

as for the bottom end, i'm ordering a set of rods from craig next week and the crank and all is gonna be stock.

you are already at 16psi on your stock Z6 pistons? or aftermarket? if whatever you're doing right now is working out stick w/ it. the only problem is, stock pistons are not going to work w/ these rods as the rods are for floating pins rather then press ins like stock pistons are. I guess that is one benefit of using those vitara pistons, a pro that definitely doesn't outweigh the cons though. I'd say save your money untill you have at least enough for some srp's or something like that. I prefer CP or Arias to JE/SRP/ETC. It'll be worth waiting for. why build a motor wrong when you could wait a few more months and build one correctly. the boost will always be there, it isn't going anywhere
