Kain you deserve an *** whuppin' for that. It's the phillipines, where the ---- else are they supposed to build. Yeah it'd be dumb if a rich ------- built a house close to the water, and complained, but these people have to build there. It's where their livelyhood is, and where there's space.

I wonder how fast this all happened.. like when the earthquake happened and when the tidal wave actually hit land? Like is it even possible for these people to get any type of warning or was it just like.. Bam, I'm on the beach.. then next thing I'm stuck on the side of a hotel with a car full of people next to me.

They said the tidal wave was 30 feet.. but how long was it?

Anyone else got any video or pics? I'm to lazy to look

Some waves move at the speed of sound, doubt this one did though. And it was a 30 foot swell, much bigger when it finally hit land. On oahu, waimea bay, they regularly get 30' waves. Its not all that easy. Even if they warned everyone, there'd still be major life loss. I live on the big island of hawaii, Kona side. The opposite side, Hilo, was hit by a few tidal waves only about 40 years ago. So we have good tidal wave watch. And the quake that created this wave, and the last big one that hit hilo, were big enough to disturb the earths axis.

I just saw these facts on CNN

Death Toll is now 63,000 confirmed

Waves = 11meters high

Speed of wave = 740-780 km/hour

Distance travelled into land = 3 - 4.5 miles (depending on what gets in its way I guess)

------ unreal is what it is, they also had absolutely no warning apparently, the US knew quite a bit before but for some reason the info couldnt be passed on

yeah, they dont have a tsunami early warning system over there like we do on the west coast. they didnt put one in because the countries over there said it would be too costly. needless to say a system is getting put in now.
