Trying something new for motor mounts

Trying something new for motor mounts
So I've seen the recipe for 3M Window Weld urethane mounts. But that stuff ain't cheap. So, I went to Home Depot and picked up some PL Premium Construction Adhesive for $2.97 for a 10oz. cartridge.
Now for some pics.
You can see the cracks around the perimeter.
I stuck the nozzle in the cracks and squeezed (did the same thing last night ). Just waiting for it to dry....
Crossing my fingers...

WTF? At least you could have cleaned it up a bit. Let us know how it works out, and be honest if it sucks. :P

Go to http://www.mcmaster.com and search for item #8644K11.
It's 80a durometer urethane. Works great.

Re:Trying something new for motor mounts
just use the mount helpers . those lil pads that come with the stock mounts that u put on the sides when u bolt it up to the frame. that ---- will never fall out. thus keeping it in one piece. be honest if it works well. dont tell us its good if that ---- falls out.

Re:Trying something new for motor mounts
Well, couple of you wanted an update.
Like I said, I got tired of waiting (picked a bad time to do it) so I put it back in with half-cured polyurethane. Shortly thereafter, I went for a spirited drive. I came home, popped the hood and quite a bit of oozed out.
Over the course of a few days it finally cured. It's hard, but still somewhat flexible. I wanna say it's like Shore 80a. Either way, still a hell of a lot better than a torn mount. Think I might take it out and make it look nice (function first...then fashion).

Re:Trying something new for motor mounts
Just get silicone caulk and fill it up? Thats what I did. I bought motor mount inserts, but ended up tossing them and just filling the mounts up, it definitely makes the car a little more stiff (you can feel the engine vibrations a little more) but its still lasting about 10,000 miles later. I probably need to redo them when I do this next swap, but we'll see.
