Tranny owned me
 

Well 2 weekends ago my car decided it didn't want to shift anymore. It was stuck in 3rd I think, maybe 4th, wouldn't change gears. The shifter would move all over, but the gears never changed. Finally got around to cracking it open today to see the damage.

Outcome:
-Broken 5th gear and slider
-Broken 5/R fork
-Broken 3-4 fork

Got the thing mostly put back together with some Mitsu bought parts, and some scraps we found. I need a couple clips yet, so I should have them tomorrow, finish the rebuild, and get the tranny back in with the new clutch!

i've considered getting an old like 90 hatch and doing a ghetto setup on it, but even if I did I'd still own my DSM. Ya it occasionally breaks, but it's usually my own fault. This time, hey the tranny was ready to go apparently, and it went. Now hopefully I can get another 100k outta it

Well my ghetto garage rebuild with some random spare parts, and a couple new parts, must have worked pretty good. She's back in action, running great on 20psi.

That was me 2 months ago, sitting on the side of the road in Blaine with 9 bent valves. And little kids walking by asking me what I was doing. So depressing.

But damn I sure am suprised this tranny is working as well as it is. I just tore into the thing not knowing ---- about it.

lol, I've actually seen this car running twice, once in multi color form and once with the new paint. Its just like all dsm's though daily serviced motors but I like ju-on's ride but it does seem to break alot

scary part, DSM has smaller tranny parts (500+ hp!) than a stock D series tranny.

Exactly why I have another car for my daily driver. She does break a lot, and can't be trusted as a daily driver. But when it's working, it sure is fun!

Oh and I spray painted my homemade exhaust this weekend too, since it was starting to show some rust in spots. Black BBQ spray paint looks pretty nice!

UPDATE

The bellhousing on my tranny is now cracked spilling my precious redline everywhere. Yay for broken DSM :7

Fill your washer tank w/redline, re-route the hose from you hood nozzles to the fill on the tranny and just periodicly refill it by hitting the mist button. Problem solved.

Glad I sold my DSM, both of them actually, they are usually nothing but a disappointment.

I won't be here on the 16th Steve. I travel this time of year. She should be ready come next spring though. She's getting a built motor put in next month, and now I guess a new tranny too. Hopefully it'll be a little more fun next year. I do have the desire to do a honda project as well on the side, but the Talon will always be #1 on my list. But I'd like to do a budget honda build too. Something like an 89 hatch or something.
