TRACTION!! Which Tires Are The BEST For The STREET
I ran about 300whp through my 1st gen 205mm azenis last year and traction sucked, anything above 5k in 1st-3rd was spinning. Even from a roll 3rd would sometimes still spin a good bit.
I was thinking of getting the newer azenis but dont know if they would even be much better. They dont last a hell of a long time but I dont drive the car more than 10k a year anyways This will be for a daily driven summer Crx. Looking for anything to fit my 15X7 rotas and a 3" drop How do you guys get traction? Thanks |

Drag radials are the only thing that is gonna work at that hp level.BFG or Nitto are about your only choice unless you want to stuff a 235 MT under there.

Re: TRACTION!! Which Tires Are The BEST For The STREET
A 235 is not gona fit with a 3" drop. get some 225/50/15 bfg's and youll never look back

Re: TRACTION!! Which Tires Are The BEST For The STREET

Re: TRACTION!! Which Tires Are The BEST For The STREET
just roll a regular nice summer tire for the street and then have a pair of steelies with some bfg drag radials mounted on them when you want to go out on weekends and beat on the car. Leaving drag radials on the car full-time won't do you any good since they wear out faster than tough guy's -----.

Re: TRACTION!! Which Tires Are The BEST For The STREET
Even with drag radials, I believe you still have to do a burn out in order to heat them up to get any traction. I do on my nittos anyway.

yoko advan A048's. I used them with VX's and even in the rain I got traction. I heard the Hankook RS2's are supposed to be pretty good.

Re: TRACTION!! Which Tires Are The BEST For The STREET
Im pretty sure my alignment was ----, as I have some bad camber wear on the azenis
Do you think with just a good alignment the new azenis would be good enough? |

Do you think with just a good alignment the new azenis would be good enough? like JD said , you need to get your alignment in check. since an alginment is in order dont buy the tires yet because you might not have to. i have no experience w/ azenis but from watching other people, even 200hp road course cars have a hard time hooking up coming out of corners onto the straights |
Re: TRACTION!! Which Tires Are The BEST For The STREET
Get a camber kit and a alignment done then put some drag radials on.

Re: TRACTION!! Which Tires Are The BEST For The STREET
so if you were to put some DR's on a street car thats only driven in th edry times how fast would they wear out?

Re: TRACTION!! Which Tires Are The BEST For The STREET

Re: TRACTION!! Which Tires Are The BEST For The STREET
New tires are overrated. I like finding used road race tires on ebay. Just find the ones that are DOT approved or some road race tires for rainy/wet conditions. ---- Azenis or drag radials. I drove on my old Advan race tires on my hatch that was my daily driver from the last piece of snow melted in the spring till the first one fell in fall. All day everyday. People at my work were like...um Henry I think you need some new tires cause their looking pretty bald. I'm naw their just getting good. :6 This guy usually has a bigger selection for cheap. It's where I got my tires. http://stores.ebay.com/Race-Tires-USDRRT

Re: TRACTION!! Which Tires Are The BEST For The STREET
For 300ish whp what is recomended? Would azenis and a good alignment work ok?
Im curious if my alignment and camber was just fucked up and I didnt have enough rubber in the ground, azenis are cheap and easy compared to the BFG's |

JD's right. Jack that ---- back up to maybe a 1.0 to 1.5 drop and get a camber kit. At 3.0 inches of drop, without any camber, the inside half of the tire is going to be doing the work.
For street driving I liked my Yokohama ES100's, they felt good in the corners. But then again I don't have 300HP :'( |

Re: TRACTION!! Which Tires Are The BEST For The STREET
Mickey Thompson's are.
For actual tires that are useable. Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's are ungodly. Nothing will touch their wet traction. Very little is in the same league in dry traction. The tires that are in the same league in dry traction do not have close to the wet traction, or the actual treadwear life. |
Re: TRACTION!! Which Tires Are The BEST For The STREET
Raise the ass end back to stock, lower front 0.75", and install limiters that don't let your nose lift higher than 0 degrees camber under power, and limiters that keep the ass end from squatting. Welcome to traction.

copied from the auction...shipping is the price X2... PLEASE CHECK SHIPPING RATE WITH THE E-BAY CALCULATOR X 2 TO YOUR ZIPCODE BEFORE YOU BID Tires are bulky and can be costly to ship. These ship singlely One per OVERSIZED Box Shipping will be the "Calculated (single box) rate" X 2 E-bay has no provision for calculating TWO boxes to the same address Hence the need for the 2 x calculation Sometimes shipping is a bit less than the e-bay calculated rate x 2 . If so I will adjust the shipping cost DOWN (never up) at the close of the sale when I send the invoice. soooo....$50 x 2 = $100 |
Re: TRACTION!! Which Tires Are The BEST For The STREET
Ehh...my set of Advan A048's were under 200 shipped when I got them from him awhile ago. He didn't box them and just taped tags onto them with my shipping info. But hell it's race rubber and not some street rubber. It's a night and day difference. My Azenis felt like some old all season tires compared to them.
