Are they adjusted properly? Is there visible play? Where is the play coming from?

Re: TRACTION BARS

Are the bolts the right size going through the rod ends? They shouldn't have play.

Re: TRACTION BARS

use anti sieze compound on the radius rod jam nuts. Heim joints are noise, that is the price you pay for eliminating wheel hop.

Because they're not. They don't float around in there just allow for "some" movement.

Did you adjust them with load on the suspension meaning not having it jacked up and tires hanging. You adjusted them while on the ground or on something, correct?

Re: TRACTION BARS

Heim joints are indeed loud. Ask me how I know? I run a 4 link rear with a panhard bar. Total of 10 heim joints. I went from poly bushings in the upper and lowers to the heims and the suspension moving around gets transmitted straight into the frame do to it being solid mounted. Think of rubber engine mounts then installing solid motor mounts.

Installed properly, the joints rock back and forth while riding over bumpy terrain. This is normal.

You can hear the heims over the engine?

You have done something horribly, horribly wrong. Goforth's CRX is very quiet as it has resonator, muffler, and dumptube routed into the exhaust. You can have a conversation inside the car at WOT, although it's usually the same conversation ie - don't !@$%* kill me in this thing! I certainly can't hear the JK bars over the vehicle's operation.

those joints they use are cheap. change them out to a higher grade self lubricated heim joint and you wont hear ----. also, if the bolt your using is smaller than the inner bore of the joint that will allow movement within the joint and wear it out sooner. you should make sure the bolt does not have play inside the joint and if they do use a larger bolt or a brass bushing.

THNKS RENR, I took the traction bar off the other day and noticed it was actually bowed. :X I just might get a JK or equivelant.
Ill probably give away the old one to whoever wants it. If so, Ill post it up in the For Sale thread.

Re: TRACTION BARS

I'm rosario's friend, and i helped him install the traction bars..

The helm joints have lateral motion in them... If you were to hold onto the main part of the radius arm and rotate it in a turning motion, the helm joints make noise on the mounting part of the traction bar itself... I suggested to him to get some big ------ rubber o-rings, and stick them on each side of the helm joint, thus making the noise disappear.
