make shure its vented out to the outside of the car, and make sure you have a kil switch, preferably the ones that are like keys.

never had any problems in any of my cars...and mine were never proper. in the integra I had my Optima ratchet strapped down in the spare tire well. ---- $100 for those BS Moroso vent boxes :P it all depends on where you race and how ---- your techs are

Thats probably becuase dry cells (I'm guessing thats what you had) do not require battery boxes for the track.

I thnk there has to b a fire wall seperating it from the car.

yeah, but I'm pretty sure the rules state that there needs to be a "firewall" between the battery and passenger compartment...so for hatchbacks I think a box is ALWAYS necessary no matter what batt type, I think I read that somewhere

track officals dont think thats funny... you need a firewall with that kind of box.

as for the other boxes, you need an externally mounted cut off switch (marked with on/off) and the box needs to be sealed with vent tubes going outside the vehicle, and of course securely mounted...

they point this ---- out to me every time i go to the track... also there is nothing in the rules about Optima style batteries, apearently its still a battery just like the others and fallows the same rules (although i had an offical admit it was gay and the rules needed updating)...

Re:track requirments for battery

officials are generally smart people and know what rules are needed and which are bs. But if you go to a yuppy track, they enforce them all. I live right near rt 66 in joliet (near chicago), and they enforce more rules than nhra or ihraif you go 13.99 you need a sfi helmet. So I go to hillbilly ass rt 41 in indiana. Street car chaos rocks.
