if its anything like a honda theres probably a roll pin you have to bang out (i hate those things) useually its covered by a rubber boot you have to pull back first hope this helps

there is a bracket that holds the cable to the tranny (where the cable suddenly gets really big) and this bracket has 2 holes for the cables. The holes have a small relief cut to pass the cable through once you remove the clips. These clips are sometimes easy, usually a pain in your ass. they look like a thin piece of metal, about 1.5" wide, with a "U" cut into them. The U fits around the cable, but since the clips are curved slightly, they really wedge into place. Taking them off is easy, putting back on sucks. Out at the end of the cable, you will likely find a super fucked up looking pin. the cable slides onto a stud, then the pin goes straight through a hole to hold it. there is a little J-shaped part of the pin that goes around the stud to capture it. if you pry these apart a bit it comes off easily and goes on even easier. if you still can't figure a way to get those other clips off, try unbolting the bracket. might be easier, might not.

The hard part isnt exactly getting them off...its getting to them. I just did a corolla clutch and i put a long flat head screwdriver on the bent portion of the clip and two solid hits later it was off. Be ready to get frustrated when you have to put them back on though.
