alright im looking to buy a decent driver & socket set i was thinking craftsman becuase of the lifetime warranty or husky( home depot brand) because they are supposively made by snap on. but i was at walmart the other day and they had a really good deal on a stanley socket set and they were powdercoated black 8). what do you guys think?

For your average home tools, just stick with craftsman. Can't go wrong

Some of those "off brands" have shitty tolerances too.

i use craftsman at school but whenever i can get my hands on my friends snap-on tools i use em. ive stripped bolt heads off with craftsman and then got them off with snap-on sockets.

can anyone verify that husky tools are made by snap on, if so are they the same quality?

I like Craftsman.. I buy a screwdriver now, break it in 2050, and I get a free replacement ^-^

I've had a few craftsman tools break, especially the screwdrivers, but i can't resist the lifetime guarantee O0

from what i understand the only other company snap-on makes tools for is bluepoint. maybe matco makes husky? not sure

Never heard that about husky. I'd stick with craftsman for the most part but I actually really like husky screwdrivers, they're similar to snapon with the molded handles

I have a set similar to that as my "junkyard kit" i bought it at a pawn shop for $50, use it all the time. i have a few random cheap screwdrivers in there, a hammar, just some random tools. it was pretty much brand new when i bought it.

whenever people talk about starting tool kits, I always say seach the swap meets and ebay. snap-on, craftsman, matco, mac, all of those tools have a lifetime warranty, and are awesome tools. buy them used and take them straight to turn them back in. thats how i have 99% of my collection.
