mid/high 9s is a typical stock turbo honda motor time because of the one tire fire bog and/or wheel spin launches.
i was running 9.3s @ 80mph in my integra with 2.4 60 foots, and at the end of the 1/4 i was trapping about 103 and running 14 flat

In the wet it was the other way around.
It makes sense. In the dry you get best grip by laying a big solid contact patch down on the road. In wet it is the weight you put down per square unit that is the biggest factor in making grip, and you need groves in the tires to dissipate the water out so you don't float on it as easily. Rally cars use really narrow tires when they're racing in anything else than dry tarmac.

You're fine until the wires start sticking out. You do lose grip before you get to the wire, as the rubber compound may change when the thread is completely gone
