You dragged a slushbox 9000? You are a god....

There are a couple of guys who have done auto to manual conversions of their 9000s over at SaabCentral.com...

Saab's suck from a standing start, but they'll eat anything from a roll....

Yeah they don't have a lot of traction and they're very heavy. Mine was stock except I modified the factory installed boost controller to give more boost and full boost independant on revs or gears. When I got the car it was an absolute dog off the line because the boost controller didn't give you full boost in first gear, probably to protect the drivetrain.
I used some old winter tires on the drag strip, and I launched by pushing my left foot on the brake pedal as hard as I possibly could and gave it full throttle, waiting until it was up to 3000rpm and with plenty of boost, released the pedal and it went off with moderate wheelspin. Only problem is that it would take a few seconds to actually spool up with the stock engine management like that which meant I needed to start spooling while I was still staging to actually get the boost up before the green light came. I'm sure I could've gotten it to spool a lot faster by putting megasquirt in it and using the launch control, but it was never a project car. I gave the car to my little brother and he made it eat driveshafts like there was no tomorrow.
A friend of mine has a manual 9000, he ran 12.1 at 115mph in it with a T3/T4 hybrid and two stock intercoolers welded together + Autronic SMC and MT slicks. The car now has a GT37 but he hasn't had the time to finish mapping it and actually lay down some times with that turbo.

I like your idea about the winter tires. I have some that can qualify as slicks!

I'm putting a 2.3L 9000 engine into my NG900, with a GT3071R, new fuel pump, 630cc injectors, etc...Should be good for 400 whp but I'm preparing to need several trannies a year. I might take it to the track in New Hampshire this summer...

You're right about the boost limitation. Saab's are boost limited in first and second gears because they create insane anounts of torque. You end up getting wheelspin -- or breaking ----. With my current set up, I'm a little over 300 ft/lbs wtq so I need to take it easy from a standing start....
