Re:today was a good day......pics! of my new 'toys'..

how much did that set you back? i am a complete noob when it comes to welders, i wanna learn through trial and error on how to make my own manifold so what would be the most economical welder and how much will it set me back?

turbohf 03-23-2004 08:13 PM

Re:today was a good day......pics! of my new 'toys'..

well the turbo was...'not too expensive' (i will leave it at that) and the welder was $437 + 30 for helmet + 9 for gloves...being able to say i did it myself: priceless :P

Re:today was a good day......pics! of my new 'toys'..

sweet man, i've got a 110, but i want to get at least a 135 so i can weld some decent manifolds, i'm about to take a class at the community college too to learn some skilz. i don't see much room for improvement on your welds ;) btw, i bet that .x/.x turbo spools up nice :P

See, thats why I dont even go to the local junkyards anymore. Dustin is having sex with all the girls who are working up front and knows when every turbo car is getting processed.. you ass :P

Anyways.. good snag dustin!

Still cant beat my starion intercooler deal with all the pipes for $8.50 at pull a part, lol.. "Ya, its a heatercore out of a van" rofl, I'll never forget that.

turbohf 03-23-2004 10:48 PM

Re:today was a good day......pics! of my new 'toys'..

then you put it on ebay....

i tried that heater core ---- last time with an intercooler, it was even a Probe intercooler it looks like a heater core....just with 1.75" pipes ::) she wasnt buyin that, guess there getting smarter there....assholes tried to charge me for the O2 in the turbo, hand to take that ---- out there (usually use a hammer, its a 3 wire, no use to me)...

came out in the yard early in the morning...that mean you grabbed the tranny monday then? cuz it wasnt there late monday when i stopped by (the XR7 was hiding in the holding area, just a small "EFITurbo" emblem on the fender, thats why i came back)...

everett doesnt have hot chicks. they are usually hiding at lynnwood ;) no coke can on the XR7....threw it across a row into/onto a sable or something

i got a garrett t25 and an intercooler from a g2 rx7 for about 270 USD. i was pretty stoked about that.

http://www.masterydesign.com/ben/garret-t25-2.jpg

no shaft play, water and oil cooled. i just need to figure out how to rotate the compressor. and i need to get the wastegate welded shut or get a plate to cover it cause i wanna run an external wastegate.

*thumbs up*

Thats not a t25, its a 60./48.AR T3. That still a little high but its a great turbo so not as bad as a t25 for that price.

Jeff / Dustin - where is this pull a part located? I go to the one in Kent off of the Williams exit on 167th.

I really dont want to go back there for a p/s pump bracket if I could just go over here thats closer.

there are a few in Tacoma. The U-Fix-it honda isnt a pull a part yard though. billed me $82 for a used 1 wire 02. i really needed it though, so It was worth it. isnt JHill associated with that place?

U-Fix is a bunch of -----s....I walked into their yard once while the gate was opened, not thinking it wasnt a go grab it place....

Needless to say I got hell for walking in there. So I asked them to get me my Radiator fan....$60 I walked away and laughed (the $5k GSR motor was funny too)

OMG...i think i might be getting the hang of this...i would get doing better if the ------ breaker in the garage wouldnt pop every 2-5 minutes!!! >:( guess what my first project is? welding mild steel to cast :P so the welder is cranked up to put some heat into that bitch... power goes out... watch fatty weld glow for a minute ;) i will probly post pics of it tomarrow night in the FI forum when im finished (welding a T3 plate to a HF manifold), giving up for the night, cuz its a little hard to find the breaker box in the dark ::)...

that's amazing that your welds are holding, I must really suck at welding. does your welder pulse with the wire feed or is it constant? mine pulses and pisses me off.
