just run a thicker gauge ground wire back to something you can ground on.

if i run a ground wire to anywhere i can get a decent ground, its going to be 18 feet 6 inchs long, and cost the guy an extra $40 or more for wire

i wanted to wire the batterys in series cause i have the power wire to the front already, and could just connect it to that other battery, and i have enough extra for a short power and ground wire for the amp

im tryin to save the guy some money and eliminate my headache of trying to find a good ground, cause its practicly ------ impossible in this thing

Ok, 40 for a wire, or how much for a new sound system?

just looked up the price of the wire, its like 12 dollars for 20 feet of 4g

Re: tieing two batterys together

$2 per foot for 8 gauge here

but thats a nice guess

i've done enough stereos to know too much juice can fry ----, and i've also done enough to know a ground wire longer then a foot isnt very desirable

what can i do that doesnt require an 18 foot ground?

relocate the battery, get a big ass piece of metal, or ground to the water :X

i can get a piece of metal, but what do i do... just let it chill in the back and ground to it, or do i need to mount it to somethin?

i've never had to work on a boat before so this is a new one for me

Holly hell i can't beilive this is going on for now...15 post ..and no one has said this..

you must run the negitive and postive on the same battery..it's a RULE ... being DC...

weither it be you have to batteries wired parallel, or using a single battery,

two batterys...one for the amp one for the motor ...fine ...altho you must charge the battery for the amp...using a wire...that's the right size for the amp. Draw.... 500 watts at 12V = 41 Amps = 4 gauge wire...

Don't you guys have a wal mart near there ?! i bought a 1400 watt amp kit.. for 35 $ 5 guage like 18 feet of it or so....

it's easyer to run another cable for the amp wiring alone.....than it is to run dual batterys and amp wiring... PLUS ...one dies...they both die.. Good luck

i didnt say i was going to run just the ground off of that battery douche bag

yes i have a walmart, and its $40 for a 8 gauge amp kit

i didnt ask what you thought was easier, and im not running an 18 foot ------- ground wire

i've already decided where to ground too though so feel free to ignore this thread

Re: tieing two batterys together

38.95 plus tax here pretty much brings it to $40

i dont care what it is there, buy it and ship it to me if you want to dispute prices i can go take a picture of the damn tag

where i lived before here i could get it for like $15 for almost 25 feet, but then i moved and prices became gay
