Maybe the internet itself could be free, slow but free but i'd rather pay a lil to get the speed. theirs no websites out their that are ran for free, unless its hosted from home or work were someone is still paying for the connection, leasing space off someone elses server, etc. thats what I do for my sites right now, host from work but i still charge my members a fee for the VIP sections since my sites don't have advertising or sponsors and someone has to help cover the costs for our T. Anyone who thinks a paid membership site is stupid just dont understand how the internet works plain and simple.

Buk, it is not free. True that the countries occupants may not have to pay a direct fee to use it, but someone is paying I assure you of that. Infrastructure, maintenance, and electricity are never free. Users pay direct our of pocket, or through taxes, or through labor.

Anyone who thinks that the internet should be free needs to broaden their view of the world. Yes you can avoid pay forums as long as you wish, but you will always pay in some way, to access the internet, whether you notice that you are paying or not.

I understand having to pay for internet, but paying to use a ------- forum? 5 bucks per person? Thats ------- ridiculous. HMT isnt that big of a forum and it would make around 100k if it charged everyone 5 bucks, There is no way that it costs that much, or anywhere close to that much to run a forum.
