thinking about moving, need ideas

ok so me and my girlfriend are wanting to buy a house. but we've both been in Reno, NV our whole lives. Im sick of it here, its so ------- hot in the summer and snows all winter. In the past 5 years our realestate has gone through the roof. my mom bought a house ~2 years ago for 130k and it just got appraised at 305k. Everyone has been moving here from cali and its just not reasonable for me to get a house for less than 150 without living in a shack.

We are pretty much open on where to move, i do internet sales and also deliver pizza. I can do those anywhere in the country and not make a difference. My girlfriend is a pre-law student so a good university is important. So basically here is what we are looking for.

Nice weather, if i didnt have to have a/c that would kick ass
Good school
Good pricing, i noticed in washington state you can get a nice house for 150k
Thats about it

Now where do you guys think is a good place?
im looking at cities and if you can tell me if these are decent or shitholes etc that would help:

Seaside, OR
Vancouver
Canyonville

and i also need other cities, i just need to buy a decent house

cmon now, you know the NW Crew has a place for you.

Portland to Seattle...nice area.

Personally I am a big fan of Portland, its a nice place to live... We have two readily available drag strips, and the further north NW Crew isn't so far away that you can't join in on the festivities.

$150K in this area can get you a pretty nice place. We get more mild summers than most, but we still see the occasional 100 degree day now and again. I haven't missed my AC much.

Right on, then I can use my crvtec to deliver pizzas w/o the a/c lol. Honestly right now were thinking Oregon or Washington, It would really be nice to also not be at 4k+ feet above sea level. Its just so damn hard to make power n/a here lol

Re: thinking about moving, need ideas

yeah its easy to make power here.

don't do seaside....coastal town, lots of wet weather, lots of tourists, not much fun.

portland and its various suburbs seem to be the winner for me.

I live in Clackamas. Thats around SE Portland. There's other places around it like Beaverton, Hillsboro, Milwaukie, Happy Valley (bling bling), Vancouver Washington just over the River. I've been around a few place in Oregon, Portland area by far the best to me.

Cheaper to live compared to the Seattle areas too.

i advise you to lock that ---- down(promote the g/f to wife) before you buy a house. if she is trustworthy, then it isnt an issue

45PSI is right. The split would be a disaster. Marry her THEN buy a house.

:D i like ohio too, i dont think the winters are as bad here by cinci than up north neer cleveland. i like it here. you could get a decent house for 150. (plus in hamilton county i beleive they dont have emissions check. but in butler county there is. thats where oxford is. ou is a nice school and theres osu, uc and allot of other state universitys.

I live 10 minutes from Oxford (Preble County) and we have no emissions standards. Cinci is about 50 miles away, Columbus is about 90, Indy is about 80, and Dayton is about 35, its a little out of the way but it is real quiet out here (no car thieves or anything) no emissions, its pretty sweet. I work in Fairfield (kind of a suburb of cincy) and its about 25 miles away i think? But yeah Miami University is a very nice school, pretty good law program too.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and we have 93 octane just about everywhere and 100+ octane at lots of these backwoods stations ;D

washington and oregon are good places to live, if ur goin to washington, the yakima area is a good place to live, and 150k will get you a nice big house, and in a good neighborhood too. there is a college here, but i wouldnt recommend it, i would go to central washington university, thats in ellensburg, and its about 45 min away. also, ellensburg is a good place to live, its a small city/town, and the university is right there.
