14.4k is not really high mileage...

600 is not too big for a beginer...

2k-3k

if it was a theft recovery and the insurance company paid out for the bike its 100% gonna be a salvage title. your going to have to fix anything wrong with it and its going to have to pass state inspection before you can get it reg'd.

i agree 2-3K is reasonable

Just remember, the bike will only go as fast as YOU make it. A 600 isn't too bad to start on. Just take it easy. I'd probably buy a 600 to learn on if I were going to buy a bike. It won't get as boring as fast as say a 350 or a 500

haha dam mann its got more ponies than my first car, thanks for all the replys, this is why i love HMT got advice on everything from cars to std's lol but back to the bike my budget is around 3-4 anyway so i guess i'll go for it. Heres my question, how bad are14k miles on a bike i mean is that like 100k on a car? and how hard is it to change parts like clutch, gaskets etc, i cant imagine it being too hard since ive been doing it on cars for the last 5 years, and are parts hard to find?

14k is like 60k on a car. roughly.

its not hard to work on, but dont get crazy with tightening things down. clutch covers and things use lots of small bolts that dont need gorrilla like torque like people like to do with cars. there is lots of cast aluminum that is easy to break so be careful removing parts also.

600's really arent that fast. there are lots of cars that can smoke them. they are fun for a few months though. the gixxer is like a civic, it seems like everyone has one and they have insane aftermarket support. also, its fuel injected, it better be boosted before june or hotrex with give you herpies

well I've seen goldwings with 300,000 miles and going strong, the mileage thing really depends on how its ridden and how the bike has been maintained. Sport bikes usually tend not to last as long. Its not unusual to see a bike with 100,000 miles that has just had maitnance done and small wear items like clutches, tires, etc. Bikes are fairly easy to work on and with a late model bike like that parts should be very easy to find, I can easily find parts for my 99 intruder, and even my 82 virago. My dad had more part options for his 72 sportster than I have for either of my bikes, his other harleys there are a ton of parts availible for as well. He has a 90 cbr600 as well and parts are pretty easy to come by for it too. So parts should be avalable for years to come.
