thinkin about a new carro

so I finally have a decent job and the whole rattling ass civic getting me looks thing is getting old.. Im thinking about buying an 2002 a4 1.8t, what do you guys think. I like the civic but its two door, and loud as ----, I need something with a little more style and found this audi for sale tell me what you think. I picked audi because of the quatro and decent gas mileage, I live in Colorado and winter can be bad when i go up to the mountains for work

looking for relaibilty info etc, i heard the 1.8t is the most reliable audi engine so far true? and I know how much you nogss love pics so

Omg enough with the ------- "i want a vw" or "i just bought a vw." I thought HMTers would be wiser.

man...
i work at a used car dealership and you would be surprised how many problems we have with vw
everyday we are dropping a car off at vw and picking another one up. sometimes it's small ---- and sometimes it's not. we've had 2 bhg in the last week on a jetta 1.8t and another on a turbo beetle.
i hate going to vw that ---- is expensive.

on the other hand. i love the turbo A4 cars fun to drive...

uhmmm all i know is that the 3.2 l audi waists ---- loads of oil and the dealer said that it should stop by 50k now its at 80 and still doing it new 2006 fyi
sooo..... lol i know that teh 1.8t jetta and the a4 are same motor i heard that the jettas have lots of trans problems but the trans are different in those two cars so i might be wrong
nice car from the out side no doubt

cousin has had the same car for the last 5 years and loves it. had very few problems with it, all under warranty so he doesn't have to fix ---- anyways. not very fast but still fun to drive. and, there are a lot of options and room to grow if you want it too. apr has some sick chip upgrades

Re: thinkin about a new carro

so I talked to this old dude (that supposedly knows a lot about german cars) and he told me the 1.8t is the best, meaning most reliable vw engine ever made except for some minor electrical issues that should have been fixed under recall/warranty, is this true

so far heres what this car has going for it

QUATRO, big plus because I have to the mountains for work sometimes and I live in CO, good gas mileage 25-30 avg. according to audizine members, decent miles\condition\looks and really good price, there is no way in hell I could pick up a lexus or acura same year codition\year for anywhere near this price..

so come on people tell me what you think.. and try to be constructive, this is a real big decision for me

ps I inted to keep the car stock, maybe a chip/I/exhaust but that will be it, I will pick up something else to drive fast on the weekends

Are you sure you want to jump into another car payment? Is there anything you can do to the civic to make it more tolerable, different muffler?

what is this great price?
and you ask us to tell you what we think, but don't listen when we tell you what we think.
i would never buy a vw my dealership has nothing, but problems with them. i know all of the service writers at vw i'm there so much. when i used to sell cars at this dealership i hated selling vw cause i knew something would go wrong with it and i would have annoying customers calling me instead of service.
do what you want. i would love to drive one, i'd just never buy one.
that pic looks like it's at a junkyard. is it salvage title or something?

Re: thinkin about a new carro

I try to avoid anything VW like the plague. Also, since the EPA estimated fuel economy is 23/30mpg city/highway, plus the fact that it's a turbo motor in a 3200lb car, I'll bet my bozack that it doesn't get 25mpg combined.

And OOH QUATTRO leet. AWD is AWD. If the added forward traction is such a big selling point to you, do what rsmith said and buy a WRX.

I did the same thing, bought a 2000 subaru for a classier work car at the firm....then sold it a year later because I hate making payments, bought a '92 prelude that is loud and obnoxious.
Since I did that seems like the whole office is downgrading cars, an office friend sold his '04 sti with big turbo, and bought a '76 blazer, then anouther sold their '03 forester and bought a '89 subaru loyale.

There is so much trash in our office parking lot now, the high school down the street has nicer cars. You'd think an architecture firm could do better, and the busines keeps coming through the door. Drive what you want to drive, dont let other people dictate your choice in car.

My little sister has this exact car. Great on gas but what do i know i'm used to 8s. I like it she has however had to bring it to the dealer for little things. Reliability wise go for an e46 bmw, get a set of winter tires and you're set. I put tons of miles on my bimmers and other than control arms from driving in the city and oil changes i never had any problems. Great ------ cars.

Older BMW X perhaps? (X is for awd). I don't know when they started making them or what the prices are... just throwing the possibility out there.

E36 = slow unreliable valve dropping heap.

If you think you can find an M1 or E26 M go for it. Those cars are fast and rare.
