things that go bump in the night...

So my wife and I were wakened up this morning at about 5am from the sound of footsteps coming up the stairs. First thing we both thought was our son got out of his crib and was crawling down the stairs. So as soon as I got out of bed the sound then acted like whoever was in the hallway turned around and started walking back downstairs and then a few steps on the first floor and it stopped. So as soon as I tossed some clothes on and turned on the light. My son was standing up in his crib awake. Hmmmm well at least he was in his bed. But now the question is who or what was walking on the stairs.
So this is where it gets more weird. I was thinking maybe it was our lab and was walking up stairs and maybe after hearing me she turned back around. She knows she's not allowed upstairs. So I get down to the first floor and she's in the kitchen sleeping on her pillow. Mind you that there's a baby gate going into the kitchen so it couldn't of been her. Not to mention she was sleeping and the gate was closed so that rules her out. Now maybe it was our daughter cause sometime when she gets sick, she walk up to the stairs and let up know if she yacked or doesn't feel good. So I open up her door and she's zonked out and not to mention I can tell when she's up and walking around cause she's got lead feet and only knows how to slam doors when she closes them.
So now I'm bugging out and check all the doors check out the rest of the house and everything is fine. Being it's snowy outside I check for footprints by the doors and nothing and it's bone dry by the doors. Windows are all locked. Not to mention our dog is pretty good when people are by the house and letting herself be known. But she was out until I turned the kitchen light on. I usually don't get weirded or freaked out but this got me kinda shaking in my shoes. Our house was built in 1915 so who knows what happened. We've live here for almost 7 years and never experienced anything freaky like this before. My wife told me when we first moved in that she saw an old man in the bathroom but nothing ever since them. Note you, I told her if she ever sees any ghost or anything like that....don't tell me cause it freaks the ---- out of me. Not to mention I even asked when we were signing our mortgage papers at closing I even asked if someone died in the house would they have to release that info just cause I didn't want anything to worry about. Yeah I'm weird like that. So anyone ever had any experiences like this? :-\

Gov't wouldn't send them a bailout check so they foreclosed on the firehouse and the repo man took the ecto1. Not to mention their based out of NYC and I'm in Wi. I'm just waiting for the walls to start bleeding and voices saying "redrum" and "nignog". Then I'm packing up and getting the ---- out of Dodge.

Yeah, pull up your teepee and pitch that fucker up far far away. lol. Honestly I called my mom and she brought over some sweet grass which is supposed to ward away evil spirits and whatnot. Then my wife called up her mom and she's suppose to come over and smudge the house. We're both native but from different tribes. So different tribes have different rituals for things like this. I told my wife I was gonna get a Ouji board and tell whoever's here to get bent and expect a call-a-thon if he pulls this ---- again. :6

I told my wife a few things before when looking for a house...nothing near a graveyard, nothing were anybody died in, and no old dead guys in the bathrooms. Apparently she forgot the last one. I mean for the being nearly a hundred years old someone had to die here. The house was also in the same family up until 3 years before we bought the house. My wife never told me cause I told her not to tell me things like that cause I've never step another foot into the house ever again. Even though I watch all those ghost hunter shows and whatnot. I'm a big scaredy cat when it comes to ---- like this. So being a good wife, she listened and never told me. She was like I only saw him once and he was just standing there in some early 1900's clothing with a black tophat on but haven't seen him back ever since then. I think I should of amendment the rule under situations like that and had her tell me.

There's a house in NY that a court ruled as "haunted" and the seller had to refund the money for just that reason :P

Re: things that go bump in the night...

my folks old house made a lot of noises at night, if anyone would crash on the couch in the family room they would swear they heard someone walking down the hall and ---- like that.
I laughed at them until one day spent the night down there I noticed how weird and real it seemed.

Look around at your hot water pipes and things like that. Is your house well insulated or are there any drafty areas? Was someone recently up and running water or anything? My old mans house was always worse in the colder winter weather.

My old mans house I tracked it down to hot water pipes that ran the length of the hall under the floor before going to the 2nd story bathrooms. Someone takes a piss in the middle of the night the pipes get a fresh dose of hot water and expand creaking along their mounts (it took time so it wasn't obvious seconds after the water running etc). Then a couple hours later as the pipes cool back off they made the noises like the 'ghost' turned back around and came back.
Houses with PVC water pipes are a lot worse for this, especially if the plumber has never used PVC. But there are other things besides water pipes that can shift especially in an old ass house such as yours.

Check simple ---- like that before you start loosing sleep scared of some spirit pissed off you're in his house.

In NC there is a real estate law that says if someone died in the house thats prudent information and the agent has to tell you before you buy the house... :X

i had a friend who used to rent a house that was haunted.
his house was where everyone would party, and pass out and ----, and at least 10 people had witnessed some type of freaky ---- going, the least of which was footsteps acompanied by giberish/mumble whispering.

one event that made him leave his house for a day, was he was getting a beer out of the fridge and hear someone/thing run up his basement stairs and run into the door.(doorway wa in the kitchen) then it happenend again louder, and again louder than the time before. and i guess he ran the out of there like the ghostbusters out of the library.
oh, and when he came back that door was open (was closed when he left)
there was a bunch of other ----, but i can't remember it all, but almost everyone who stayed there overnight a few times, had been freaked out at one point.
oh ya and one girl went nuts there, hysterically screaming an crying for no aparent reason, noone ever saw her again.

Well I didn't hear anything last night but had a hard time going to sleep. I was just curled up with pillows on both sides of my head to hopefully muffle anything. I was just anticipating something to happen so I think I was up till 1 am....and I crawled into bed at midnight so just waiting for like an hour. :l I kept on trying to think of different things...what to buy with tax returns but it still kept coming back to creepy headless ghoulies with beady glowing red eyes with rusty old chains around them like some scooby doo ----

My wife and I both heard something. She also saw the old fucker a few years ago. Maybe it was that crucifix I broke to use as a shim to level a shelf a few months ago. lol. Stenseltizm, it was 5am so noone was up taking a wizz or dropping a deuce. We used to have the pipes rattle but it's a completely different sound to what we heard.

Doesn't sound like you're haunted, sir. Sounds more like old dude dropped in to take a pee on his way to ---- with your neighbors, and dude on the stairway realized it was the wrong house and feels bad about spooking you. It's over the course of years, I really don't think you're being haunted.

That fucker must of cleaned up after himself cause either he levitates and tracked no snow inside and made no foot prints in the snow around the house. Not to mention locking the deadbolts somehow from the outside of the door when he left since all the door were locked when I checked them out. He's good.
