The fatman has had enough of the UK. I liked being a homophobic little island in the middle of the sea, but some fucktard decided it would be a good ------- idea to dig a tunnel under the sea to France, now Mr. Average white brit is a minority. IN MY OWN ------- COUNTRY.

What kicked this off was looking for a TIG welder. I've had enough of flux core and some of the welding on this site makes me wanna cry with envy. I'm familiar with the usual names over there and have been looking at the HF website for some time. What do we get over here? A watered down version at three times the price. And don't get me started on fuel prices. $1.80 a LITRE at the moment round here for 95RON unleaded. I pull $1800 a month in a shitty ass job (soon to be changing for more money), and ---- is so expensive here now that I can barely afford to live, mostly due to sinking $270,000 on buying a house in the middle of a DMZ.

Oz would have me. I have enough points to gain entry due to qualifications and I have a skilled trade (they love mechanics that specialise in diesel engines it seems?).

I've had enough of being the minority in my own country where I'm worked until I drop and I'm politely encouraged to die the ---- off because the government can't afford to support me in my retirement for more than five years.

Everything is so expensive too. 270k bought me a ---- box made of compressed sawdust and porridge. What I want is to move into the middle of the Nevada desert and live underground like Burt Gummer :P

Hmmm, can see I'm going to have to think seriously about this. Only problem is, I manage quite nciely on eBay selling mild steel B series flanges to people for $80 because no one does the HMT thing to the extent people do in the states. The big name car parts store chain we have over here is full of car polish and prop rejects from the Fast and the Furious. There's also quite a trade for SSAC imports over here too. Oh well.

I know a few people that moved to Canada from the UK.They sold there dive of a house or a shoebox as that is how big it was and bought a friggin mansion on the lake for the same here.Having a trade ticket means easy entry to most Western nations as well.Avoid major metro areas in the US or Canada and you will be set with low cost of housing and generally mostly white people who speak english.

Edit- Heavy duty diesel mechanics make normally $30 a hour plus here about $27 US and are in high demand.Stick to western Canada if you come here or Oregon/Washington on the west coast of the US.California is a gong show and you need to speak Spanish.

yea, come to the southeast! it gets kinda hot, but you get used to it, and it's not a bad thing if you like to go to the beach. you don't have to worry about snow, and people are friendlier in the south. the only bad part is that things move at the speed of south, meaning compared to up north, people are generally stupider.

Midwest is cheap as hell to live, and Joplin, Missouri is a huge trucking depot. Hell thats where CMT films "pimp my truck" yeehaw. But seriously, midwest has a lot of diesel mechanic jobs, its a big trucking industry and farming industry. Not to mention, 270k buys a 2 story 5+ bedroom house.

I know what your saying about the UK and its hatred of cars, mainly its because there's nowhere to drive. Its a small ass island. I'm getting pissed off with how hard it is to find decent car bits on ebay etc. but i've got a few mates who are fabricators/precision engineers.

My colleague moved out to America to work for megabucks at a silicon valley bluechip. He absolutely hated it. Said there was no real atmosphere, everyone just worked all the time, the bars were cheap but horrible and the only thing to eat was fast food.

Inflation also meant his house out there is now worth about 2/3rds of what he paid for it.

Hell, give me a se7en or a Peugeot 205 GTI and the deserted roads of the ake District and I'll never leave, but that's not enough to keep me here. I dread to think what this country will be like by then. Prices are rising on everything. This house here has a true value of about $150kyet I had to pay nearly double it. The spectre of having to work until I'm 70 because paying a quarter of my wages in tax for 50 years is not enough to guarantee me a pension when I come to retire.

It's a feeling that's growing more and more prevalent in the UK as time goes on. Everyoe is sick of being taken for a mug because traditionally we're too damned polite to speak out about it, hence we get bent over every day of the week. I'd get a better ride if I was a raghead. I'd get a fuking house and cable TV for me and my entire family off the government.

Oh, and junk food is fine by me. I s'pose that's why I'm 300lbs (but 6'5" too...) :l :'(

You've spent massive amounts of money on fighting several wars which continue at great cost to civilian and military personnel. Not to mention the monetary cost.

I'd like to open my own speed shop if I stayed though. Only problem is I prefer the scene in the states to here - 1.4 litre engined shitbox shopping trolleys with 19" rims and something akin to a rocket launcher for an exhaust is just embarassing...

Hey V8 Dave ive just come back from florida last sunday after 2 weeks out there. You cant even begin to imagine how depressing it was coming back to the UK! I diddnt leave the house for 2 days because i was that pissed off! People are so friendly and welcoming over there its ridiculous!! I must have seemed really arrogant at first as i was a bit confused why random strangers kept talking to me! Nobody will even give you the time of day back home, Let alone spare a minute for you.

Weather was so nice and hot, and its October for fucks sake. Came home to grey skies and rain!!

Everything is so ------- cheap out there. I bought myself a pair of K-swiss trainers for like £30!! They are £65 when i looked them up here! This country is so fucked up its not even funny anymore!!
