Testing the waters for a product

First off, I realize you guys aren't really the group that wants to spend any money whatsoever. I don't blame you, but I was wondering if anyone would be intersted in carbon fiber parts for 2nd gen crx's. The reason we are only doing them for crx's is because that is our project car at the moment and is really our only honda here.

We are currently in the product design stage at the momement. We have been working on a few different designs for interior pieces, but we would be enthusiastic on working on parts under the hood.

How much would you be willing to pay for something like a center gauge console? What would you like carbon fiber parts for? Any ideas that will help us help you in the future?

Here is a picture to give you some ideas of what we can do. Yeah, I know talk about flaming gay with all the gauges, but the guy paid a hefty pocket to have us do this.

Feel free to flame away and criticize all you like and I apoligize if this is in the wrong forum. Thanks for your time.

we are ready for take off. where's the emergency eject button? looks like you guys to pretty good work, any pictures of anything else you've done? I don't have any money to spend, and if I did it probably wouldn't be on cf interior pieces, I don't think cf is much lighter than plastic, but I'd like to see more pictures anyways.

The finish is very good. You may not have any luck here though. We would rather spend money on POWA!

Re:Testing the waters for a product

Those parts look real nice, is it 2x2 or 4x4 weave? Too bad most people on this forum don't really care about appreance parts so you probably won't have too much luck selling them.

I don't really have any other pictures right now (on my laptop). But I'm sure I can get some more up tomarrow.

Re:Testing the waters for a product

Sorry, our interior pieces are 2x2 weave, they are done using the overlay method.

what else do you do? I've been interested in cf ---- for a while, I've just never really tried to make anything with it before. I've found www.shopmaninc.com to have the best epoxy resin prices and www.carbcom.com to have the best cf prices, other than kevlar/carbon hybrid where the first site takes the cake again.

Well right starting out as a business we are just going to do carbon fiber stuff. I have tried http://www.fiberlay.com/ and http://www.fibreglast.com/ both places are pretty cheap with quick shipping.

I've checked out fiberglast.com, they have higher prices than shopmaninc, I'll check out fiberlay.com, thanks for the link.

Re:Testing the waters for a product

that is hot. i'd be interested in a cf hood for my crx. one to match the cf hood that is made by www.fiberimages.com the sir hood that fits the usdm crx. or something that has a hump across the middle and a scoop or something. i need the clearance for my engine.

If you are interested in practicing working with carbon fiber i suggest you start with fiberglass. It is cheaper and basically the same idea.

cool, thanks for the advice. I have a bondo fiberglass kit sitting in my garage. I used it to hold my stock center console upper half to an integra lower half and put in a little 3 gauge holder where my heater controls were. I'll probably try some more ---- later. I read that whole mold making thing on fiberlay.com and it seems expensive and difficult, that's shitty.

damn you do nice work, but what I would like to know is how much you charged for that cf console, not that I'm interested in the console specifically, but to have an idea of your prices.

Make some cf sunroofs to replace rotten ones on crx's. You could get some scratch for those, and send me a free one for the idea. Nice work :)
