Rip out the pistons/rods, maybe if you're lucky they'll be eagles :-*

Re:tell me what kinda pistons and head studs these are

yeah def. forged pistons take off the pan and see if u got some rods...yeah their just head bolts...studs are what u screw into the block and use a nut to hold down the head

Re:tell me what kinda pistons and head studs these are

ive pulled a bunch of heads before and ive never seen them twisted like this. and when i pulled the pan the rods looked a bit different too... im pretty sure these arent stock headstuds... but i dont know what they are, i'll pull the pan sometime soon and checkout the rods and take a picture of those as well

Not headstuds, headbolts. :P

I agree that the pistons look aftermarket.

Sell me the head. ;)

Re:tell me what kinda pistons and head studs these are

the head came with a aem cam gear, maybe it has a cam too... im pretty sure it has some rods, cuz i was driving it without the wastegate connected and no boost guage for a day, and i made atleast 6, 1st 2nd, 3rd, gear pulls... then the next day i hooked up the boost guage and went again and it went to 14-16psi at 5k... and i blew the headgasket , compression tested it and it came up great 160 - 180 across.. i think any other sohc woulda thrown a rod eh?

o yeah and are these oem headbolts? or waht type HEADBOLTS :P

those have weird threads on em. but they are headbolts, and my srp pistons have dish tops if that helps

high compression pistons are usually domed. Those look like regular flat top pistons. Low compression are usually dished.

You could have had them stand up. Maybe you just damaged em doing that and they will snap later. I would pull the pan and inspect them to be sure what they are, doesn't really take much work for the reward.

You have to factor in other things too. I can't see someone building a turbo motor with high compression for any special reason......besides Jeff. :P

Re:tell me what kinda pistons and head studs these are

i don`t recall seeing any honda headbolt looks like that (the thread part)

Scottsi 10-25-2004 06:29 PM

Re:tell me what kinda pistons and head studs these are

i figured out what headbolts those are, and no those arent the threads LMaO, theyre TY headbolts OEM honda torque to yeild headbolts. this engine came with a AEM cam gear, and a direct port nitrous kit (or most of it) tapped into the intake manifold, i think someone was building a high comp nitrous setup. and i didnt build this engine, im just using it, it'll be dynoing soon so watch out for that suckas :P

Re:tell me what kinda pistons and head studs these are

i figured out what headbolts those are
ahem, you did all by yourself Scott????
;D

jes ------ with ya man...

BUT, i did visit scott today, i just had to see this monstrosity of a D motor in person!

i came, i saw, we concoured. I also drank some beer and we got the car semi running decent again (at idle) for what the setup actualy is.

things i noticed:
-the head is likely milled (see below)
-the motor likely has a cam, it lopes like a mothersucker
-at 1000 rpms, and wont idle for CRap
-the head is super fresh with the valve cover off, someone took or was in the process of doing things right before scott aquired this motor..
-scott has shitty tiawaneese tools
-he makes some good microwave hot wings tho.. so i forgave him.

if you could only hear this thing...
and if it will only survive WED night!
