tapping noise inside wall !!!! *_* !!!!

tapping noise inside wall !!!! *_* !!!!
Wondering if any of u construction guy can give me some light or else i will have to call up miss CLEO :P
about a month ago I started to hear this weird tapping noise coming from the INSIDE of a wall perpundicular(spell :1 ) to my bed
It only happen at night, sounds like a extermly light tap on the wall coming from the inside, it is a very, very consistant tapping, when i first hear it i actually throught it is from a clock/watch. It taps may be like 20 times or so then stop, then it would happen again randomly, IT STOPS WHEN I SHAKE THE BED OR TAP THE WALL
I asked my friend about it since I rented the house from him and he said he has heard the nosie for the last 4 years when it use to be his room. BUT, this is a completely new room, meaning they tore all the walls down and re-model it before i moved in.
so now my question is WTF could it be, a ghost? animals? house collopsing
oh and no it is not a water leak since there are no pluming or anything around the area and the roof is not leaking, behind this wall is my brothers room with NOTHING that could creat such a noise. OH and once a while the tapping gets kinda loud that you can hear it standing like 10 feet away.
I actually tried to "talk" to the wall but with no result LOL, I was asking "it" if there is anything inside that wanted to let me no something but then i got no respond LOL

Mouse, its starting to get cold, they are seeking shelter in your house.
happened to me last year about this time but in the attic, eventually they got brave enough to start eating the dog food in the kitchen, I cought 16 of those ****'s last winter

I would guess animals, house shifting, wind ect. Nothing to worry about if there are no utilities behind the wall.

I don`t think it is animal becasue how the same noise been existing for the last 8 year since my friend bought the house back in 98 and there are no mouse problem at all,, plus how the noise is so consistent. My dog hears it but he didn`t bark or anything just flappnig his ears trying to listen to it lol.
It is a house built right off the ground, no basement or anything, concreat floor.
