Click for sale pricing, it's more like $800. Not the best price but not that bad, dude.

its actually 900 on sale. im just throwing it up for specs. 1280x720 pretty good resolution? whats a good contrast ratio if that even matters? this one says it does up to 348" screen. just tryng to find a decent medium

1280x720 is 720p. It says 1920x1080 isn't "native," meaning it'll display a 1080p picture, but it's still only 1280x720 pixels. Marketing ----.

Here's an image to show you what contrast is:

Good contrast is the TV on the right. It's a ratio of the brightest white to the darkest black. Higher is better, and costs more. Oh, and the contrast numbers are also exaggerated too. Most LCDs now have "dynamic contrast." It adjusts the screens brightness based on how dark/bright the image is. It's annoying if it adjusts while you're watching a movie too. If you see static contrast, go by that.

What's your price range for one?

projectors are only good if you have a dedicated room for it. they cost more then you think cause you need a screen, some kind of surround sound/speakers, a ceiling mount(trust me you dont want the thing sitting in front of you), long *** cables/power cord.... and it pretty much has to be pitch dark for ideal viewing. any kind of ambient light just kills it.

i had one set up for a while.. but things need to be cleaned all the time on it or else you can ---- it up bad.
i was gonna go with another projector but decided on a tv instead..

i would just buy a large as tv thats what i did.

you can get a 1080p mitsubishi 73" for 2 grand or less.

i have a 67" samsung and its almost too big.. ounce you put it in your house and not viewing it in a store.. it looks even bigger..

hope this helps

www.monoprice.com cables, adapters = done
cutoffs on a 1/2" ply/mdf ceiling mount = done

If you want a small sized image, buy a $100 screen. If you want larger you had better plan on refinishing a wall & painting it in a paint similar to Behr Ultra White Flat. Or Behr Silverscreen 770E-2. White's give better brightness, silvers trade brightness for contrast. Rule of thumb. If it's HD and it aint 100", it aint ----.

How important is contrast in a projector? Not as much as even an LCD tv/ computer monitor. You loose a giant mother ------- assload of contrast just by the nature of being a projector.

480i is the modern digital version.
4 NTSC broadcasts are broadcast as 720 x 525. What is actually rasterized and shown on a CRT TV is 648 x 486 or less and is an interlaced signal (320 x 240 or less is shown)

So 480i video is 320 x 240. Not going to like anything less than 720p in a projector. 1280 * 720.

1280 * 720 and 1280 * 1024 are both fine for a projector. Ive seen 640 * 480, 800 * 600 & 1024 * 768 projectors. They royally suck and should be avoided at all costs.
Honestly I run mine off an xbox 360. I don't ever run 720p on them. I run 1280 x 1024. Looks better in games. movies/tv are simply going stretch to it or letterbox anyway so they wont matter.
