theres this 95 grand am se for sale, the guy wants 300 for it. has 5 speed with a blown clutch. little rust overall. all stock. AND has a quad ohc engine, which can be swapped into my hatch if i so feel like it...ill talk him down to 150 is possible when taxes get here saturday.

No it's either not a 1995 or it's a DOHC motor. Price is good, boost is easy; just get browntops and run the AFC hack. Tranny might be the shitty one; Getrags are findable.


Find the spark plug wires, distro, PCV, and EGR for me ;)

ok its a 92 or 93 then, google ;D. but a dohc was offered but it is not as far as i could tell. i believe it is the sohc motor though. ill be looking at it again tomorrow though. i think i want it for a backup daily driver.

DOHC's came in the GT but was mandated for the 1995 year, before the "Twin Cam" came out (It's the same ---- Pete ;) ). Head might give;DOHC head swaps can be done or you can yank the motor. Scout out Quad 4 Forums. They know much more than I can give you :)

Swap that ---- out and throw an L67 in w/ cavy getrag :) then put the quad ohc engine in ze civic :6

i was thinkin that of putting in my civic too. but first im gonna see how well the condition of the grand am is. i need a backup daily for the time being. i be damned i drive the trans am again if something happens to my hatch.

yes you were. to bad its not a dohc quad4. im looking into the possibility of boost for it at the time. but first order is to get it road worthy again.

I never said I hate GM. The LSX is a great platform. I also enjoy the GN, Syclone and Typhoon, most of the newer cars. I do, however despise almost every GM car made from 1980-2000ish (aside from Corvettes and the 4th gen Camaro), simply because they're piles of ---- typically owned by teenage girls.

I had a 1991 Cavalier and wanted to drive that piece of ---- into a wall. I've never driven such a shitty automobile.

if it says it on the coil cover, then i guess its not a dohc. pretty sure the 95 se's came with them though.

I worked for a GM dealer for a while. I didn't hate them as a whole, but I learned which cars had a higher tendency to be piles of ----. Sorry, but the Canned Hams are right at the top of the list.

Although, it is kind of neat that it is one of the Quad 4 5 speed cars. Personally, I wouldn't dump very much money into the thong.

no im not gonna dump a whole ton of money into it. id rather get it back on the road as a backup vehicle. i can always resell and make a nice profit from it. im sure i could get roughly 1500 or more for it if i have the rust fix as well as the windows and other stuff. i was actually thinking about driving it as my daily driver so i could work on my honda and finish the body work. im getting a b18a1 and was thinking about swapping it in but that requires other parts which id rather build a d series for it and go turbo.
