Suggestions for a home welding setup....

Re: Suggestions for a home welding setup....
I just recently got a lincoln 135T with the gas and all and I love it. It's the only welder I've ever owned, but I'm already on my 3rd tank of gas and I'm pretty confident that I could weld just about anything I will ever need to.
Raffi, the wire spool is plastic no matter what. Where the wire goes into the line is a plastic hinge type thing with a metal wheel to guide it. I haven't seen the inside of a miller, but I don't see mine as looking/being cheap for what that thing does. Oh, and it comes with a 3 year warranty and a nascar sticker on the side, so uuuuuuhhhhhhhhh.
Heres the inside
This chart on the inside of the door is real helpful with settings
The other day the welder doubled as a drill too. We needed to make a hole for DoubleA's o2 bung, so I turned the heat all the way up and burned a hole into the downpipe.

Studies have shown that welders work better with the nascar sticker. :P
Definately practice before you do the cage, and take your time. I'm 70% happy with the way mine went, but I am going to be grinding and re-welding on the visable areas.

Re: Suggestions for a home welding setup....
well after using mike Harbor freight welder and --------'s Lincoln 135 i must say that the Lincoln by far out performs it any day. witht hat said i also think that welding with a TIG is alot more precise and easier ( to me that is ) to use. The again i only used it at school and it was a miller syncrowave. Bad *** stuff.
Get a tig if you can. i know you can get them pretty cheap used if you look around.
good luck

well I went with the LINCOLN SP135T, also got a gas cylinder for a few extra...so the total was a little over $500 or so, not a bad deal! I'm gonna copy everybody else and make an HMT welding cart as my first project...fun, fun!!
thinking about rocking this helmet.... not much throat protection, though
