Subaru on fire

2 Attachment(s)
so long story short i went for a drive and on the way back on the highway there was a car back wards against the median on the other side.
this was around 3:20 am
i pulled over to check if the driver was alright, as i was walking up some one started yelling that it was on fire.
looked like he went hard in to the barrier, front end was fucked.
the driver booked it.
had nothing better to do so i stood around watched it burn and waited for the fire trucks.
any ways heres some pics and a vid

Amateur news team here. Nice pictures and video. Loved watching that thing burn. His dad will buy him another to rice out, rev really loud, mod only the bov, and launch at rediculous rpms with awd. Thank you Subaru for creating a car for all the ricers parents to buy for them instead of, "pimpin out," Hondas.

i dont know if you can tell but in the second pic i tried catching the moved barrier, it moved a good 2 feet
i wonder why it lit on fire, the fire started by the fire wall and got out of hand pretty fast. hit wasn't huge
i dont know if the driver was drunk or it was a stolen car, but when i came around the other side the fire men looked in the trunk pointed to something and all the other ones started laughing before he closed it.

I'm guessing it was stolen if the guy bailed on it. Those looked like decent BBS rims that were on it. Car fires are some of the worst fires to put out. Most of the time it's better to just let it burn instead of trying to save it. That's what insurance is for.

It's totally awesome when the aluminum block catches on fire and quickly gets the whole thing up to steel igniting temperature. :3

why was I expecting to see C0mp3x's red subie wagon engulfed in flames?

Oh well, the turbo and rims are still fair game.

What?

"Actually, aluminum is extremely reactive, and any bare surface instantly grows a microscopic oxide layer (corundum) that is air tight and prevents further oxidation. In extreme heat, aluminum can begin to burn (similarly to magnesium), and can even burn under water by stealing the oxygen from water."

How did you think they perform underwater welding? With a lightweight gas? Under that much pressure?

Besides didn't anyone ever tell you that once a block catches fire don't ---- with it? Magnesium and Aluminum fire are just about impossible to put out.

roflcopter.

I made some homemade thermite before I could drive. Made a "rust maker" with a battery, and powdered aluminum.

Lit it with a lighter and magnesium ribbon.

Aluminum can't burn :l :S

Later on bought some off the interwebs and paid $15 for it, Doug and I tried to light it but can't remember if we ever got it going.
