go get a cluster with a tach out of a 90-91 Civic/CRX. Remember the clusters from a 90-91 Civic 4dr EX will work too.

88-89 = no no.

Okay here are the steps,
1- Remover the assembly mah jigger
2- remove the three plugs behind cluster
3- remove cluster
4- plug three plugs into new cluster
5- reassemble
6- redline the bitch.

That's right, it's plug and play, there are three plugs, pull em out and put em in the new cluster.

I know I'm so happy I got it. Redline starts at 5 and the tach buries at 8 and I usually shift at 8k so it the tach is completely buried when I shift. I never hooked up the upshift light since my car is OBD1 and the wiring just to get it to work right is a bitch.

I don't think it was an SI I got it out of. I was wondering WTF redlined at 5K. It was out of a hatchback.

I think the hb's the Si was the only one with the rpm standard. The dx's and STD's didn't have them, I'm sure you could have placed an order for one, but outta the bulk factory lot I don't think they came with any.

It was probably an HF one that the guy put into the hatch. I dropped an Si cluster into the HF and it's funny, hearing it redline but it ain't at the red. :P

thats a trip about how there was an upshift light on there, i have only seen those on the 84-87 CRX's, the base model civics didnt have a tach in em, even if they did they didnt redline at 5 cuz they have the 16 valve motor, unlike the crx HF which has the 'high fuel' 8 valve motor, that however does red at 5, i swapped one of those in a old si i had and went to take it to redline and it was Vrooooooom to 5.4 and stopped making power, like dead stop. lol

anywho, you have to get a 90-91 SI/LX/EX if your car is a 90-91, you have to get a 88-89SI/LX if your car is a 88-89, the plugs are different, keegan (the one on this board) got a 89 for his 91 and i had to rewire it all
