http://www.importbuilders.com/suspension.html

go all the way to the bottom, there is a package deal, coil-overs, strut bar, and tie bars. that would make an awsome set-up for you. then replace the bushings, at most I think they are 125 for the energy suspension, (im just sayin that for price purpose, at most its gonna be $125)

I am gonna buy the suspension set-up soon....(the one in the site I give you)

Re:Stiffing up the car.......88 crx

if i were to get that set on that site for 210 shipped i should probably get struts at the same time huh? should i use energy suspension bushings or stock bushings?

pagong 07-15-2004 09:27 AM

Re:Stiffing up the car.......88 crx

Go with the energy suspension bushings (hyper flex system).

the rollcage in the black car stiffined it up soooo much if i pull up into the little hill to the parking lot at work sideways the inside back wheel will lift off the ground cause the suspension cant react fast enough, of course it is more dramatic the faster you go.

I'm thinking of going with the tokico adj. but still not sure. I want to know is the ground control strong than those coilovers. Or what's the best to go with?

Re:Stiffing up the car.......88 crx

Don't buy cheap springs!! They suck, and so do the tokicos, we've blown like 4 sets up. Go with the KYB AGXs and get either Ground Control (Eibach) or a full coil like Eibach or H&R. The extra $100 or so is worth it. If you get the ES hyperflex kit, make sure you get the black kit, it won't squeak like the red can.

A descent roll cage for a street car isn't necessary, but mine helped stiffness a lot, it'll cost a lot though, look for a fit one like an autopower cage, something bolt it, they work great for street apps. To really feel better response get strut braces (at leaset front) and sway bars (suspension techniques work great). If you want better response for cheaper, do your bushings and the sway bars, it'll make the biggest difference, do it all, and you'll be driving a go-cart.

the h&r full body doesn't have dampering control.

Re:Stiffing up the car.......88 crx

- I have skunk 2 coilovers, and tokiko struts on the CRX and the struts hold the wheels to the ground but that bitch bounces like a MOFO! I would go with a little better strut if I had to do it all over again.
a roll cage will stiffin the hell out of your car.
- a good DIY thing you can do, and cheap, and it works. just weld a decent peice of tubing across the strut towers in your trunk. I will post a picture later of what I am talking about. it will help out alot! even on stock suspension.

- who had the DIY roll cage for 300-? is there a web site for that?

- also, revs29k, so you still wanna sell that head?

- and yes, I would do it all at the same time, if you can afford it.

Re:Stiffing up the car.......88 crx

i was gonner say neuspeed/blisten coilovers..that`s like the best i`ve tried/ride in, it make your car feels like a factory sport car..
then i`d go for Agxs...know a few ppl using them and got 0 problem so far running mountains
i`ve had two friends with the takiko Ilummxxx(sp :P), in a civic and a mr2..end up the mr2 has two leaking one and two blown one(really blown that if you pull the rod out it drops right back in :-X) and the civic has two leaking one.
and my brother has the blue type in his car with skunk2 coilover and i didn`t like it too much, feels like a replacement oem shocks..
so i see NO takiko(sp again :P) in my future.

both a very awsome set-up. If you can afford it, I would highly highly recommend it.

and go negitive on camber if your not going to drive it everyday. maybe take it to a race chassis building place that works with autocross cars if your not sure what to do yourself. theyll give you allot of good sugestions

link to roll cages: http://www.google.com/catalogs?dq=&h...page=34&zoom=3

hey Beau, how is it sitting in the car when the bar is commin down by your legs. is it uncomfortable? does your leg hit the bar at all? im cuious as for daily driving

Re:Stiffing up the car.......88 crx

A full cage for daily driving would suck :-\ If your going to put one in a car you drive alot on the streets, go with a Roll bar. I beleive someone already mentioned Autopower. They make great bars and cages for street and race apps.

Re:Stiffing up the car.......88 crx

I'm on progress CR-2 coilovers, rear sway bar, and cheap piece of ---- strut bars and tie bars front and back, if you lift my car with a jack at any corner, 3 wheels will come off the ground.

Re:Stiffing up the car.......88 crx

I second the don't buy a cheap spring setup. I've never been impressed with coilovers. For shocks I like to use KYB or Bilstien. Eibach sportline (red ones) springs suck for DSM cars.

Does anyone know if civics are able to be sub framed? ---- if I know, been too long since I've been under one and I didn't really look for it.

Damn I need to sleep, ------- ulcers keeping me awake.

Check here for a cage cause there pretty cheap. Nothing over 300 for a full cage and they're $40 off on all cages I believe and 20 for the roll bars.

Re:Stiffing up the car.......88 crx

I think Julio wants to just weld up one himself.. if the volvo ever gets a cage it will have to be custom. Damn I really need a roll bar in the K5 - as much as I abuse that bitch offroad and get airborn and ----.

I think the 8-pt cage would be really nice for the money, and it would have a function, and not just a looks thing. its a kit, and a weld in kit, but everything would come already cut to precision, and it would be a ease to put in.
it would also have the purpose of good chassis stiffining.
